Discover the Garden Route’s treasure trove of pristine beaches, lush indigenous forests, fynbos-covered mountains, dramatic cliffs and tranquil lagoons.
The Garden Route generally refers to the route between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth, but it is the verdant coastal area between Mossel Bay and the Tsitsikamma which forms the heart of the Garden Route.
The coast is lined by a string of pretty seaside towns and villages, all offering a plethora of accommodation options and some of the best restaurants and shops in the country. But it is the natural beauty of this “Garden of Eden” that is its real claim to fame.
The excellent roads, sparse traffic and short distances between neighbouring towns make the Garden Route an ideal self-drive destination. The safe beaches and the host of activities (ranging from wildlife sanctuaries to puzzle parks) make the Garden Route extremely attractive for families with young children. There are plenty of outdoor activities to keep teenagers entertained, too. Golfers are spoilt for choice on the Garden Route with many world-class golf courses in close proximity to each other: Pinnacle Point, Fancourt, Oubaai, Pezula, Simola and Goose Valley.
