Mpumalanga translates to ‘the land of the rising sun’ and there is indeed something magical about this South African province. It is the first place the sun hits each morning in South Africa. Breath-taking scenery, an abundance of wildlife and incredible ancient wonder make it one of the country’s most loved areas.

Mpumalanga is home to the Kruger National Park, South Africa’s largest game reserve. With incredible numbers of the Big Five and other wildlife,  as well as 500 bird species, it is the epitome of South African safari.

En route to the Kruger National Park and winding through its dense green forests, striking rock formations and majestic waterfalls, the Panorama Route is arguably South Africa’s most beautiful road trip. Blyde River canyon is the largest vegetated canyon and third biggest canyon in the world. God’s Window, named for its breath-taking panoramic views of the Lowveld and canyon, is often referred to as South Africa’s best view. It gives visitors a view of striking rock formations, beautiful waterfalls, and Lebombo Mountains.

Mpumalanga also provides the perfect contrast to the South Africa’s savannahs and Karoo landscapes. Being home to the highest concentration of waterfalls in the country, it’s the perfect place to immerse yourself in South Africa’s luscious forests and beautiful mountains.
