From expansive savannah to snow-capped mountains, from lush forests to tropical coastlines, Kenya is a truly a spectacular safari experience. The striking contrast of Mount Kilimanjaro against the acacia-dotted savannah is an African sight like no other. Kenya is home to an abundance of wildlife, with the annual Wildebeest Migration and rich culture of the traditional people making it the perfect place to immerse yourself in the beauty of East Africa.
The Maasai Mara is one of Africa’s most beloved safari destinations. Whether you take to the skies in a hot-air balloon safari, get driven across the plains by a game ranger or follow in the footsteps of Maasai guides on a walking safari, it the ideal place to witness the magnificence of the annual Wildebeest Migration. Amboseli National Park offers almost guaranteed elephant sightings against the spectacular backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro. Lake Nakuru, part of the Great Rift Valley, is home to hundreds of flamingos, making for a striking mass of pink against the contrast of the blue lake.
Nairobi, the nation’s capital strikes the perfect balance between vibrant city life and great wilderness. The city is alive with culture and art – Nairobi is an excellent combination of history, with its National Museum and Karen Blixen Museum (the author of Out of Africa), and energetic modern life, with excellent restaurants and a thriving nightlife. The Nairobi National Park lies on the outskirts of the city and is in perfect contrast to the urban city backdrop. Twenty minutes from the city centre and you’ll find yourself surrounded by zebra, wildebeest, rhino, buffalo, giraffe, lion and more in the savannah and forest of the national park.
Kenya is home to one of Africa’s most successful and ground-breaking conservation efforts. It has combined tourism with community development and wildlife conservation making it one of the top destinations for wildlife preservation in Africa.
Kenya is also wonderful for immersing yourself in a different culture. The Maasai, an indigenous Kenyan tribe, are a unique people – in a world focused on modernisation, they have persisted with their traditional culture. They are extremely welcoming and provide a culturally-enriched Kenyan experience through walking safaris and village visits.
Kenya is the perfect destination for a safari encompassing breathtaking scenery, immersive local culture and magnificent wildlife.

I am one of the owners of Pembury Tours and set up the company in 1996 with my husband shortly after our return from a 6-year stay in the United Kingdom, during which time I worked in London and also did a Master’s Degree in Linguistics at Cambridge University.
My principal function at Pembury Tours is ensuring that we maintain a consistently high standard of work. This means I work very closely with my tour consultants as well as my administration staff. I manage to spend about half my time tour consulting, something that I really enjoy! I love the challenge of compiling an itinerary for clients that meets all the criteria they have given me. My love of wildlife means that I especially enjoy working on safari itineraries but I also like drawing up itineraries that include a “bit of everything” for first-time visitors – Cape Town, beaches, game viewing, African culture and historical insight. As a mother with teenage children, I know the importance of looking for more adventurous activities that will keep them entertained and ensure a great family holiday. I am extremely well-travelled and particularly enjoy using my knowledge of travel to put together complex itineraries for discerning travellers.
