On Safari at Lalibela Game Reserve
Lalibela Game Reserve is a 10,500 hectare malaria-free Big Five game reserve in the heart of Eastern Cape
game country. Game viewing in the malaria-free Eastern Cape is excellent. The Eastern Cape straddles the
meeting point of 5 distinct biomes (valley bushveld, savannah grassland, fynbos, riverine forest and acacia
woodland), resulting in a breath-taking variety in animal and bird species. In addition, the carrying capacity of the vegetation in Eastern Cape game reserves is much higher than that of the Kruger area, so you will find a much higher concentration of animals.

Lalibela brings you the charm of authentic Africa and is a perfect blend of the formal and informal. Lalibela
has three lodges, all offering décor that is infused with the essence of Africa, as well as warm and friendly
service, exciting safari cuisine and unforgettable game viewing. Each day you will enjoy two game drives in an open game viewing vehicle with an experienced game ranger:one in the early morning and another in the late afternoon, as this is when animals are at their most active.

After your morning game drive, you return to your lodge for brunch. You are transferred to Lalibela reception, where your driver will be waiting for you. You are transferred to Kariega Game Reserve, There is time to check in at your new lodge before setting off on your afternoon game drive.

Transfer time – Lalibela to Kariega- approx 1 hour

Day 8-11 :
Kariega

On Safari at Kariega Game Reserve
Kariega Game Reserve is an 11,500 hectare Big Five game reserve set in pristine African wilderness and
incorporating the picturesque Kariega and Bushman’s Rivers. Kariega’s lodges offer a unique combination of awesome game viewing with an expansive variety of fauna, flora and birdlife in a landscape that displays dramatic views and vistas. On safari drives you will explore many different habitats highlighting five different ecosystems – valley bushveld, savannah grasslands, fynbos, riverine forests and acacia woodland. The game reserve is home to lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo and leopard. Other species abound too, such as hippo, hyena, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, eland, kudu, waterbuck and a variety of other antelope, as well as a myriad of bird species including the nesting crowned eagle, martial and fish eagles. Sometimes it is the hidden secrets of the bush which guests most treasure as memories of their safari holidays, the amazing intricacy of a spider’s web or the monumental work of a dung beetle. There is never a dull moment on game drives; you never know what African bush experience awaits around the next corner.

After your morning game drive, you return to your lodge for brunch. You then bid farewell to this African

INCLUDED IN PRICE  Lalibela Game Reserve

Lalibela Game Reserve is located in the Eastern Cape of South Africa,
close to Port Elizabeth and Addo, which means it is not only malaria free,
but spans five ecosystems, resulting in a breath-taking diversity of flora
and fauna.

Lalibela is a conservation project that currently consists of 10,500 hectares
(approximately 26,000 acres) and is home to the Big 5 (lion, elephant,
rhino, buffalo & leopard) as well as other predators like cheetah, hyena,
jackal, and lynx.

Lalibela is blessed with vast swathes of savannah grassland, the biome that
has by far the highest carrying capacity; this allows the land to sustain truly
vast herds of plains game like zebra, impala, wildebeest, red hartebeest,
blesbuck, and eland. In turn, the reserve has a remarkable density of free-
roaming lions.

INCLUDED IN PRICE Kariega Game Reserve

Kariega Game Reserve is a malaria-free Big 5 private game reserve
situated near Port Elizabeth, thus forming a natural extension to Cape
Town and the Garden Route.

Family owned and managed, it would be accurate to say that the gradual
growth and development of the now expansive 11,500 hectare reserve is
one of the most accomplished conservation projects in the Eastern Cape.
Kariega’s landscape spans across five different eco systems, resulting in
extremely high game carrying capacities which results in Kariega’s game
viewing and birding experience being unsurpassed in the Eastern Cape.
Having two major rivers incorporated into the reserve (the Kariega and
Bushmans rivers) adds enormous beauty and value, where guests enjoy
stunning river cruises, canoeing and fishing on both rivers.
