Overview
Our luxury and Safari escape was exactly as we had hoped it would be and more. We only had limited time in South Africa and the family wanted to do a safari holiday combined with a few days of family time at a good resort with big pools and fun adventure facilities. We also did not want to go to a malaria zone if possible.
Kerry was really eager to put this together. She had personally visited this area and from the start we felt confident that she would put together a memorable family trip. We got our idea of the perfect family holiday, in an area of South Africa that we had not yest visited.
Kerry was always knowledgeable and prompt in her responses. She understood exactly what we were looking for and quickly came up with an itinerary that ticked all the boxes for our family. The planning worked out really easy from our side.
The transfers and accommodation all worked out well and we constantly knew what our program for the trip was and what activities and meals we had to arrange.

Our driver will meet your international flight into O.R Tambo International, Johannesburg . He will hand over your travel info packs and transfer you to Sun City, This is a two and a half hour drive into the North West province of South Africa. Check in for two nights at this premier resort.
Have fun exploring Sun City. Take a stroll through the indigenous gardens, which have been declared a National Botanical Garden. Spend the day relaxing at the pool or participate in one of the many experiences on offer. A must visit is the Valley of the Waves at Sun City. This is one of the most advanced water parks in the world. It is dominated by the Roaring Lagoon, a 6,500-square metre wave pool with a palm-fringed beach. The water park also has five exhilarating flume rides. Other activities on offer include water sports such as water skiing and paragliding, Horse riding or ATV rides, mountain bike trails and a host of others. This is a full leisure day. A well coordinated children’s program is in place. Book in at the Spa. Be dazzled by an extravaganza show in the Sun City Superbowl Theatre or try your luck in the Casinos.
Enjoy a hearty breakfast at Sun City. After you have checked out, your driver will meet you in reception. From here you are transferred to Madikwe Game Reserve, where you spend four nights.
You are dropped off at Madikwe Safari Lodge, where you check in during the afternoon and have the next few hours to soak in the atmosphere as you prepare for your evening safari. After high tea, you depart on your afternoon game drive. Upon your return to the lodge you will be treated to a sumptuous dinner.
Driving time – Sun City to Madikwe Game Reserve: ± 2½ hours
Your stay includes two game drives per day,one morning and one afternoon, in the 76,000 hectare Madikwe Game Reserve. It is one of South Africa’s biggest wildlife sanctuaries and is home to the Big 5 and over 340 bird species. It is especially famous for its packs of African Wild Dog – and it is malaria-free. It is about 4 hours by road from Johannesburg. Madikwe is situated in the transition region between two vegetation types: Lowveld bushveld and Kalahari thornveld. As a result, the region is able to host to an incredible diversity of species. In addition to wild dog, cheetah, lion, white and black rhino, buffalo and elephant, Madikwe is home to a wide range of plains game, such as giraffe, zebra and many antelope species. Midday leisure time and lunch in the luxurious surrounds of this tranquil bush lodge.
After your morning game drive and breakfast, you check out. Your driver will meet you in reception for your transfer to OR Tambo Airport. You are dropped off at International Departures, where you check in for your flight home.
