A wonderful experience. This was our second time in Africa. This time we decided to do our safari in such a way that we visited lifetime dream places. We wanted to see the Gorillas and also the large herds of antelope on the Masai Mara. We got to do both and we loved it. During our dealings with Kerry we became very confident of the arrangements. The tour went off effortlessly and we knew we were in good hands all the way. Thank you to Kerry and to Africa.

Entim Camp was designed with a purpose in mind: to be in the best possible location to view the wildebeest migration in the Maasai Mara game reserve. For a few months of the year the migration is on the doorstep on the Mara River.
While many other visitors to the Mara will be staying in camps in the surrounding areas and conservancies, at Entim you don't have to drive for hours to get to the wildlife action because you are right there in the middle of it. Nor do you have to be hurried out of the Reserve before the gates close; at Entim you can continue to witness the wild's most important and dramatic events, which often take place at dusk and dawn. There's actually no obligation to go out on game drives because you can sit in camp and watch the animals passing by right in front of you.
Entim, meaning "forest" in Maasai, is discreetly tucked on the edge of the riverine woodlands. From the shaded seclusion of this attractively-designed camp, guests can relax in luxury and admire unforgettable views over the Mara River and across expansive plains, with the distant backdrops of undulating escarpments and volcanically-sculpted hills. From the veranda of each tent it is even possible to witness the breath-taking sight of thousands of wildebeest crossing the river during their annual migration through this vast wilderness area. The camp has been kept eco-friendly and small, with only ten tastefully but differently furnished, well- equipped tents. The decor aims to enhance the surrounding environment.
There is a cosy lounge area with a small library, separate bar and dining area, which is open- fronted allowing guests the unmatched experience of eating meals while watching the animals move to and from the river to drink and forage for their food. The camp has been designed to give guests the feel that it is part of the landscape. The experience at Entim is not your average hotel or lodge experience: it is about being right in the hub of one of the most famous wildlife reserves in the world and part of a quintessential Kenya safari experience.
The Mountain Gorilla is an endangered species with an estimated number in 2010 of 790. Thanks to the work of zoologist Dian Fossey and the success of the movie “Gorillas in the Mist”, their plight has caught the imagination of the world. On a gorilla trekking safari, it is possible to enter their habitat with a skilled gorilla guide and spend a short time in the company of a gorilla family. Sitting within a small family group of some of the closest relatives to humans is one of the world's greatest wildlife experiences and a gorilla safari is a 'must' for serious wildlife enthusiasts.
An hour spent with a Mountain Gorilla family is a very tranquil, relaxing and therapeutic experience, allowing us to realise how simple life really can be, and just how complicated we humans have made our own lives. Contrary to the "King Kong" myth of an aggressive, savage beast, gorillas are social animals that are rather shy, peaceful vegetarians with a strong family structure.
Gorilla Trekking is carefully monitored and only a certain number of permits are issued every day, which means advance booking is necessary. One permit gets you one hour with the Gorillas. Your gorilla guide will give you a briefing before the trekking commences. Tracking the gorillas through the forest requires patience and stamina, sometimes walking uphill for a few hours in the mud and wet, but the effort is well rewarded when you come across these gentle creatures in their natural habitat.
Quietly chewing away at their vegetarian delicacies, they seem like a marooned human family. The tender grooming and firm disciplining of their offspring seems all too familiar. The gorilla family cast a wary glance at the sudden human intrusion into their private world, but is comforted by the clucking made by the trackers. It is sometimes necessary to walk for 5-7 hours before you find a Gorilla group. However, the experience is so rewarding that most travellers book a second trekking trip the following day! As David Attenborough once said, “There is more meaning in exchanging glances with a gorilla than with any other animal I know.”
A unique opportunity to add to your knowledge of primates beyond the mighty Gorilla. A similar style trek, although less demanding and shorter in duration, the glimpse into the life of these unique lessor primates will add greatly your understanding of the primate sub group.
A morning around Kigali as a bustling African City. Feel the French influence and see it in the old architecture still remaining. The tour includes a visit to th Rwandan Genocide Museum for an insight into an event in recent history that will forever be a part of the Kiagali background story.
Maasai Mara is home to some of the most abundant wildlife populations in the world. Sightings of the “big 5” on game drives are almost guaranteed, while from camp the horizons are always busy with plains game. There are several prides of lion in the area, and it is even possible to see the more elusive leopard, who have established their territories around the camp.
The Maasai driver-guides are professional with excellent local knowledge, which they always enjoy sharing with our guests. Your day will be planned by your driver-guide, who is in the best position to know where the animals are that day, including where the last crossings were made, whether there are new resident lions in the area or nomad lions passing through.
Working in the area they love and know so intimately, they are the experts. The location of Entim Camp is very central and it's position offers some of the Mara’s best game-viewing, right from your own tent.
