Chobe Princess & Victoria Falls Getaway

Chobe Princess & Victoria Falls Getaway

7 Days

1 night Johannesburg, 3 nights Chobe Princess, 2 nights Victoria Falls

Itinerary

On arrival in Johannesburg, you are met by our representative, who will assist you through airport formalities to collect our baggage.

The representative will hand over your travel documents and assist you to your hotel near Johannesburg airport where you check in for your overnight stay.

After breakfast, you check out of your hotel and make your way on foot from your airport hotel to Johannesburg airport, where you check in for your regional flight to Kasane. Kindly check in for regional flights at least 2 hours prior to departure.

On arrival at Kasane airport in the early afternoon, you are welcomed by a representative from the Chobe Princesses who will assist you with your luggage and you pass through passport control for Botswana and Namibia. From here you are transferred by boat to the Chobe Princess where you are briefed on essential safety aspects & induction followed by either lunch or snacks (depending on your time of arrival) on board. The rest of the afternoon is at leisure to settle in and relax on board. Remember to pack sunscreen, a sun hat and comfortable shoes for the boat ride.

You spend 3 nights onboard on of the Chobe Princesses safari boat.

The next few days are spent on one of the Chobe Princess safari houseboats. Moving along the banks of the great Chobe River, the Chobe Princess safari boats offer simple and relaxing accommodation for guests. Unlike a land-based lodge, the Chobe Princess safari boats navigate roughly 25km of the Chobe River, allowing you to explore different vantage points and enjoy unparalleled game viewing. The banks of the Chobe National Park boast one of the densest populations of elephant on the African continent – estimated at approximately 120 000. The Park is also home to large numbers of buffalo, leopard, and lion, along with a variety of antelope and abundant birdlife.

This morning, after breakfast, you are returned to Kasane, once again passing through the border controls. Here you meet with your driver for your transfer by road to guest lodge in Victoria Falls.

You connect with your daughter and her husband on your arrival in Victoria Falls

Victoria Falls is the unchallenged adventure capital of Africa with more than 50 activities available and the next few days are filled with action packed adventure. At 1708 metres wide, Victoria Falls, at full flow, is the most expansive curtain of water in the world and drops more than 100 metres into the sheer Zambezi Gorge. As one of the most awe-inspiring waterfalls in the world it is also one of the seven natural wonders of the world and a World Heritage Site.

This morning you enjoy a final activity, a visit to the Elephant Sanctuary. You return to your hotel after the tour to quickly freshen up, collect your luggage and check out of your guests lodge.

Your driver will meet you in reception for your cross-border transfer to Livingstone Airport.

Chobe Princesses

With only a small number of guests per boat and no set itinerary or departure dates, staying in one of the three Chobe Princesses is like being on your very own luxury houseboat. The entire boat can also be booked exclusively, giving you your very own private villa on the water. As you drift down the Chobe River and spot incredible wildlife scenes, you’ll be able to completely relax in an intimate river safari experience.

Each cabin on board the Chobe Princesses is tastefully decorated in a contemporary style, and each has its own private view onto the ever-changing landscapes beyond. As you lie on your king-sized bed, spot an elephant grazing on the riverbank nearby, or see a fish eagle diving for its prey. After a day spent doing as you please, fall asleep with the calls of hyena or even a lion drifting through the open doors of your cabin. Two of the 18-metre Chobe Princesses contain four cabin suites, while the third is slightly larger with five suites. Each cabin sleeps two people – either in a king-sized bed, or in two single beds if you prefer. Along with air-conditioning, cabins are fitted with mosquito-proofed windows and en-suite bathrooms with a shower, toilet and basin.

On the upper entertainment deck, a spacious lounge and bar area encourages you to take time out while there’s also a plunge pool that’s perfect for a refreshing dip. This deck also has an open-air dining area where you can enjoy superb seasonal meals prepared by their experienced chefs.

Each houseboat has a minimum of three smaller “tender” boats for use on daily excursions that take your fancy: mark off over 450 bird species found in this wetland paradise, try your hand at landing a tiger fish, or capture Africa’s unique beauty on a photographic safari. Whatever you choose to do, your day trips will be personal and flexible because you’ll be sharing the tender boats with a small number of guests. Alternatively, simply laze on a deck chair with an ice-cold drink in hand as you soak up the tranquillity that surrounds you. As night draws in, enjoy some unforgettable stargazing under a vast African sky.

My parents enjoyed a few days of slow travel on safari on the Chobe River before joining us for the rest of our tour to South Africa and thoroughly enjoyed the few days relaxing on the river.
