Client Review

Perfect service! This spring we (a German family) were planning a vacation in South Africa. Since we were not really impressed about the possibilities to book with a German travel agency , I browsed the internet and found Pembury Tours. I planned then a Tour which included 4 days in a game Lodge and a couple of days in Johannesburg with Anya. What a smart decision. Every e-mail I sent was answered immediately by Anya. All the hotels we booked were great. The Transfers we booked were absolutely perfect. We always had very nice and knowledgeable drivers. The highlight was the Impodimo Lodge in Madikwe.

But most important of all was, that I could plan the trip with Anya, I really felt in good hands because she always answered all my questions promptly and found the right solutions for my ideas for the trip.So we started very confident from Germany that everything would be ok. The trip then was absolutely amazing. I definitely will recommend Anya and Pembury tours to all of our friends.

Gisela D & Family

Tour Consultant's Overview

Gisela D sent an enquiry directly to Pembury Tours in April 2017 with the interest of a safari in the malaria-free Madikwe Game Reserve. In her initial enquiry, Gisela expressed her preference to stay at the luxurious 4 star lodge, Impodimo Game Lodge. Once I received Gisela's enquiry, I immediately looked for availability at Impodimo Game Lodge for her preferred dates. I was very pleased to let her know that as she was planning so far in advance, I could secure availability for two rooms for herself, her husband and her two kids at her preferred lodge in Madikwe Game Reserve! I sent through a detailed day to day itinerary for Gisela and her family to review. They were very happy with it and were ready to book. Gisela advised they would be interested in a Johannesburg City Tour as they would be staying in Johannesburg after their safari in Madikwe Game Reserve before departing to the Seychelles. I included a two night stay at Protea Hotel Balalaika in Sandton and a 3 hour city tour with the flexibility of deciding which sites in Johannesburg they would like to see. I sent Gisela the updated itinerary and she was ready to secure the family vacation to Madikwe Game Reserve & Johannesburg. Once Gisela had booked her tour, she advise her international flight details and with this at hand, I suggested an overnight in Johannesburg at one of the airport hotels on the day of arrival. Her international flight would only arrival in the late afternoon, instead of wasting a full day on safari and spending an additional cost at the lodge, I advised her it would be a good idea to overnight at the airport hotel, located a 5 minute walk from OR Tambo International Airport and rest. Then the next morning, they would be collected early and enjoy the full day at the lodge. Everything was confirmed and Gisela and her family were ready to experience the malaria-free Madikwe Game Reserve!

Day 1 Arrival in Johannesburg (1 night)

Upon arrival at OR Tambo International Airport, you are met by our representative who will hand over your travel documents. You are assisted across the road to your airport hotel for your overnight stay.

Day 2 Johannesburg to Madikwe Game Reserve

This morning you will be met by one of our representatives and transferred through the rolling hills of the North West province to your game lodge in the Madikwe Game Reserve.

Days 2 to 6 Madikwe Game Reserve (4 nights)

The 76,000 hectare Madikwe Game Reserve is one of South Africa’s biggest wildlife sanctuaries and is home to the Big 5 and over 340 bird species. It is especially famous for its packs of African Wild Dog – and it is malaria-free. It is about 4 hours by road from Johannesburg. Madikwe is situated in the transition region between two vegetation types: Lowveld bushveld and Kalahari thornveld.

As a result, the region is able to host to an incredible diversity of species. In addition to wild dog, cheetah, lion, white and black rhino, buffalo and elephant, Madikwe is home to a wide range of plains game, such as giraffe, zebra and many antelope species. Madikwe’s game viewing is of a very high standard, aided by the fact that all game rangers are in radio contact with one another. There is a strict code of conduct and animal sightings are generally limited to a maximum of 3 vehicles at one time in order to maintain the feeling of exclusivity and to ensure the animals’ well-being.

Day 6 Madikwe Game Reserve to Johannesburg

Johannesburg is South Africa’s largest city and is the financial and commercial capital of Africa. It is in this fast-paced metropolis that the country’s radical political and social transformation is most evident - this is the “Rainbow Nation” at work.

Day 6 to 8 Johannesburg (2 nights)

Johannesburg, South Africa's biggest city and second largest city in Africa, with more than three million people, began as a 19th-century gold-mining settlement. It was established as a small village controlled by a Health Committee in 1886 with the discovery of an outcrop of a gold reef on the farm Langlaagte. The population of the city grew rapidly, becoming a municipality in 1897. In 1928 it became a city making Johannesburg the largest city in South Africa. Joburg, or Jozi as some prefer to call it, offers visitors an experience as unique and diverse as the city itself.

Day 8 Johannesburg & Departure

This morning is at leisure. You will be met by our representative and transported to the OR Tambo International Airport for your direct flight to the Seychelles.
