Madikwe Family Safari – 1 night Johannesburg | 4 nights Madikwe | 2 nights Johannesburg
Overview
Perfect service!
This spring we (a German family) were planning a vacation in South Africa. Since we were not really impressed about the possibilities to book with a German travel agency , I browsed the internet and found Pembury Tours. I planned then a Tour which included 4 days in a game Lodge and a couple of days in Johannesburg with Anya. What a smart decision. Every e-mail I sent was answered immediately by Anya. All the hotels we booked were great. The Transfers we booked were absolutely perfect. We always had very nice and knowledgeable drivers. The highlight was the Impodimo Lodge in Madikwe.
But most important of all was, that I could plan the trip with Anya, I really felt in good hands because she always answered all my questions promptly and found the right solutions for my ideas for the trip.So we started very confident from Germany that everything would be ok. The trip then was absolutely amazing. I definitely will recommend Anya and Pembury tours to all of our friends.

The 76,000 hectare Madikwe Game Reserve is one of South Africa’s biggest wildlife sanctuaries and is home to the Big 5 and over 340 bird species. It is especially famous for its packs of African Wild Dog – and it is malaria-free. It is about 4 hours by road from Johannesburg. Madikwe is situated in the transition region between two vegetation types: Lowveld bushveld and Kalahari thornveld.
As a result, the region is able to host to an incredible diversity of species. In addition to wild dog, cheetah, lion, white and black rhino, buffalo and elephant, Madikwe is home to a wide range of plains game, such as giraffe, zebra and many antelope species. Madikwe’s game viewing is of a very high standard, aided by the fact that all game rangers are in radio contact with one another. There is a strict code of conduct and animal sightings are generally limited to a maximum of 3 vehicles at one time in order to maintain the feeling of exclusivity and to ensure the animals’ well-being.
Johannesburg is South Africa’s largest city and is the financial and commercial capital of Africa. It is in this fast-paced metropolis that the country’s radical political and social transformation is most evident – this is the “Rainbow Nation” at work.
Johannesburg, South Africa’s biggest city and second largest city in Africa, with more than three million people, began as a 19th-century gold-mining settlement. It was established as a small village controlled by a Health Committee in 1886 with the discovery of an outcrop of a gold reef on the farm Langlaagte. The population of the city grew rapidly, becoming a municipality in 1897. In 1928 it became a city making Johannesburg the largest city in South Africa. Joburg, or Jozi as some prefer to call it, offers visitors an experience as unique and diverse as the city itself.
