Besides being one of the seven natural wonders of the world and a World Heritage Site, Victoria Falls is the unchallenged adventure capital of Africa with more than 50 activities available.
The Victoria Falls is considered to be the largest waterfall in the world. See the mighty Zambezi River as it thunders over the 1700-metre-wide Victoria Falls and plunges 100 metres into a narrow gorge below. The great columns of spray rising from the tumultuous falls can be seen from 80 kilometres away on a clear day. If you are lucky enough to be there at full moon, a “moonbow” can be seen in the spray instead of the usual daylight rainbow.
This morning is at leisure to catch a last glimpse of the Falls, until you are picked up from the hotel and are transferred to Livingstone Airport to catch your direct flight to Nelspruit. You are met at Nelspruit Airport and are transferred to your country lodge in White River.

This morning, you are transferred from White River to your lodge in the Sabi Sand Reserve, part of the Greater Kruger National Park. You have time to settle in at your lodge before you set off on your afternoon game drive.

Forming part of the Greater Kruger National Park, the Sabi Sand Reserve has no fences and the wildlife is able to cross freely between the Sabi Sands and the rest of the Greater Kruger National Park. The safari experience in the Sabi Sand is highly personalised because game drive vehicles have exclusive traversing rights in their area. The Reserve is a remarkable natural sanctuary known for its exceptionally high concentration of animal and bird life. Close contact encounters are guaranteed as the animals are not threatened by the presence of vehicles thanks to sound conservation management policies. Safaris are led by experienced rangers coupled with local Shangaan trackers. With exceptional sightings of leopard (usually the most elusive of cats), lion, rhino, elephant and buffalo during game drives, visitors are never lacking in exciting photographic content.
This morning after your morning game drive and brunch you check out of your lodge. you are met by your driver and transferred by road to your luxury safari lodge in the Timbavati Game Reserve. The Timbavati forms part of the 2 million-hectare Greater Kruger National Park. It was the first private game reserve to be incorporated into the Kruger National Park and is part of one of Africa’s most innovative conservation partnership agreements. The Timbavati Game Reserve is 14,700 hectares (36 300 acres) and shares an unfenced boundary with Kruger National Park. Game Viewing is rich with a variety of animals.
After your morning game drive and breakfast you check out of your lodge. You are transferred by road to Hoedspruit Airport where you will check in for your flight to Cape Town. Upon arrival in Cape Town you are met and transferred to your hotel on the V&A Waterfront for your 3-night stay.

Cape Town regularly tops many lists of world must-visit destinations and Cape Town’s iconic Table Mountain has recently been voted one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. Cosmopolitan and fashionable, the relaxed atmosphere and pavement café culture give Cape Town a Southern European feel – but with a distinctive African twist.
The village of Franschhoek is at the heart of the Franschhoek Wine Route and is surrounded by craggy mountains and verdant vineyards. Many of the 42 wine estates on the Franschhoek Wine Route offer informative guided wine-tastings to the public as well as cellar tours or tours of the vineyards. Some of them also make cheese, chocolate and olive oil and offer tastings of these products alongside their wines. Many of them have on-site restaurants offering food that ranges from gastronomical delights to picnic hampers to enjoy under the oak trees. There is a hop-on, hop-off Wine Tram, which visits some of these estates. Franschhoek village, South Africa’s “French Corner”, has a distinct French feel and is undoubtedly South Africa’s gourmet capital, with several of South Africa’s Top Ten restaurants. It is also filled with quirky shops.
This morning, after breakfast, you check out of your hotel. You bid this African Wonderland Farewell as you are met and transferred to Cape Town Airport.

The Victoria Falls National Park borders the front of the property, and wild animals often graze on the hotel lawns with the spray of the falls in the background.
Ilala Lodge offers 32 standard rooms and 2 deluxe suites. The rooms are all spacious with railway sleeper teak furnishings and patio doors leading onto either open lawn or a balcony where you are afforded a view of the spray of the falls from the upper-level rooms. All standard rooms at Ilala Lodge have 2 x ¾ beds, an ensuite bathroom, air-conditioning and an overhead fan. The deluxe suites have a king-size bed and have room for a child’s bed.

Arathusa Safari Lodge is a jewel within the heart of the Sabi Sand Reserve. The camp is an intimate one, completely open-plan and designed to harmoniously blend with the adjacent waterhole and African bush. The lodge flanks the bank of a large waterhole (approximately 250m x 150m), allowing for a 180-degree view of the water. An infinity swimming pool overlooks the waterhole and is the perfect spot for wildlife viewing on a smouldering African summer’s afternoon. Massive herds of buffalo, antelope and elephant families gather at the waterhole and there is also a resident herd of hippos. 13 thatched suites are within the camp’s perimeter. Each has a bathroom en-suite (with bath and separate indoor and outdoor showers), and a verandah. Meal times at Arathusa are a sociable affair. Guests are treated to sumptuous dishes, fresh produce and home-baked confectionery.
In addition to the morning and evening game drives, unique walking safaris are offered daily giving guests the opportunity to discover the hidden treasures of the region. Arathusa prides itself on its leopard viewing. As leopards are territorial, their regular appearances in the area allow their movements to be plotted. Many of the animals become familiar and are easily recognized by the rangers. Large herds of buffalo numbering in excess of 300 are often encountered. Elephants are also seen in large numbers. There are various lion prides in the area, as well as a few nomadic males. General “Lowveld” game is abundant in this section of the Sabi Sand Reserve, including giraffe, zebra, warthog, impala and more. Between game drives, lazy hours can be spent in the sparkling pool or having a massage at the Nature Spa.
Simbavati River Lodge is an intimate and friendly camp built on the banks of the Nhlaralumi River. Shaded by age-old Jackalberry and Leadwood trees, Simbavati is warm and welcoming, with a generous contemporary design.
Guest common areas offer a generously proportioned open-air lounge, bar, boma (outdoor dining area) and extensive decks with breathtaking views overlooking the Nhlaralumi River where regular wildlife sightings take place and guests can unwind. Accommodation is provided in luxury tented rooms or thatched chalets, all with en-suite bathrooms and private decks. Simbavati River Lodge is a child-friendly safari camp with three family chalets available, each with two separate bedrooms sharing one bathroom. One of the family chalets can accommodate five people, whilst the other two family chalets can accommodate four persons. There is a children’s activity room with a selection of toys/board games. Children will receive an activity booklet and coloured pencils on arrival. Children under the age of 13 will be taken to look at tracks and signs in the bush by a tracker. Board games and books are available in the lounge area.
Early morning and evening game drives are conducted by experienced rangers and Shangaan trackers in open 4×4 vehicles, offering excellent photographic opportunities. The Timbavati is also home to the world-famous “White Lions of Timbavati”. White cubs have been born into the resident prides on Simbavati and there is an excellent chance of spotting these “ghost lions” during game drives. Between game drives, you have time to unwind. The lounge area is the perfect place to relax on a comfortable couch with a book, or you can enjoy an afternoon siesta in your room.

The Ra-Ikane is a small luxury cruise boat that is outfitted to suggest, in exquisite detail, an ambience of a bygone era. This cruise boat is exclusive (14 guests only) and personalised – period decor, historic memorabilia, fine cuisine and refreshments offer a level of comfort and grace unsurpassed on the Zambezi. As afternoon fades into twilight, animals come down to the river to drink as you go by.
The word Chinotimba describes the roar of the water from the mighty Victoria Falls in the local Nambya language. The Nambya and the Tonga people are the original people of the Victoria Falls area. The majority of people in Victoria Falls live in the Chinotimba township, which has a population of approximately 60,000 people.
During the Township Tour, guests will have an opportunity to observe township life – from the oldest houses to the taverns, the local market and churches. During a visit to the Chinotimba Primary School, clients are introduced to the school headmaster – he or someone assigned will take the guests on a tour of the school, after which the children may sing a song (Please note that school visits are subject to the school being open).
The Timbavati Reserve forms part of the Greater Kruger and lies nestled between the Kruger National Park on the east, the Klaserie and Umbabat Private Nature Reserves in the north and the Thornybush Private Nature Reserve in the west. As there are no fences between Kruger National Park and the Timbavati, the reserve enjoys a wide variety of game, including the big five.
Game viewing is exceptional, with an abundance of elephant, buffalo, kudu, zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, impala, waterbuck and warthog, together with their attendant predators: lion, leopard, cheetah and hyena.
Simbavati River & Hilltop Lodge offer game drives in the early morning and evening when animals are most active. Game drives are conducted by experienced field guides and Shangaan trackers in open 4X4 vehicles, with excellent photographic opportunities. You traverse over 12,000 hectares of the big-5 game country, with lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo as well as other species such as kudu, zebra, warthog, giraffe and monkey. Nocturnal animals, including the big cats, are regularly sighted on night drives. Bird viewing is spectacular, with over 360 recorded species including various eagles, vultures, kingfishers, woodpeckers, buzzards, herons, egrets, owls, and weavers. The Timbavati Private Nature Reserve is one of the few places in the world where you have the opportunity to see the unique white lion in their natural environment. The resident lion prides of Timbavati carry the recessive gene “chinchillia’ that is responsible for this unusual anomaly. Two white lions were born into resident prides near Simbavati, and guests have a great chance of seeing these cubs while visiting Simbavati.
Game drives take place in the early morning and evening to ensure game viewing when animals are most active. Night game drives provide a fascinating glimpse into the lives of the predators, particularly the leopard, for which this area is renowned.
You return to your lodge in time for a sumptuous safari cuisine dinner. The next day, after a light snack, you are taken on a morning game drive. You return to the lodge for a grand brunch. There is time to relax around the sunny pool, do some bird-watching from the observation deck or read a book in the peace of your room’s private veranda. If you are feeling more active, you can go on a bush walk with your ranger.
After High Tea, you set off on another evening game drive, returning again in time for dinner. On your day of departure, you will do a morning game drive and leave the lodge after brunch.
The Timbavati is brimming with various species of fowl and beast, including the sought-after Big Five, namely lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino. The reserve also boasts over 40 other species of mammals. Creatures of every shape and size abound during the day, and by night, visitors to the reserve are likely to see smaller, nocturnal mammals – such as porcupines, servals, civets and genets.
A tour guide takes you on a city tour of one of the world’s most beautiful cities. You will visit the historic Castle and the Bo-Kaap Malay Quarter with its narrow cobbled streets and colourful mosques. You will also visit District Six, the site of forced removals during the Apartheid era. You will view the Houses of Parliament, the City Hall and the Slave Lodge and will enjoy a walk through the Company Gardens. Weather-permitting, you will ride the cable car up Table Mountain to enjoy the view over Cape Town and across Table Bay to Robben Island. If the weather is inclement, you will be taken on a scenic drive up Signal Hill. You are transferred to the Jetty at the V&A Waterfront, where you board a ferry to Robben Island, once the prison where Nelson Mandela lived. You are met at Robben Island by an ex-prisoner and taken on a tour of the island. You then board the ferry back to the V&A Waterfront and back to your hotel later that afternoon.
You are collected from your hotel by a tour guide and taken on a drive along the Atlantic seaboard via glamorous Clifton to the quaint seaside village of Hout Bay. We continue via the scenic Chapman’s Peak Drive to Cape Point. Looking at this dramatic promontory jutting into the sea gives one an idea of why early sailors nicknamed it the Cape of Storms. We then follow the coastline northwards via Simonstown, where you can visit the penguin colony of Boulders Beach. We also visit Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, which is dedicated to the extraordinary variety of plants found in the Cape Floral Kingdom. A leisurely drive through the leafy southern suburbs will bring us back to the city bowl in the late afternoon.
You enjoy a full-day tour of the Cape Winelands, with its backdrop of majestic mountain ranges and lush valleys today. We stop for wine tastings at a minimum of two wineries, and you have the chance to purchase some of the wines you have tasted. We visit Stellenbosch, the “town of oaks” for a short guided tour of South Africa’s second oldest town. A scenic drive over the Helshoogte Pass (Hell’s Heights) takes us to the Franschhoek Valley. French Huguenots settled in the Franschhoek Valley in the late seventeenth century, seeking refuge from religious persecution in Europe and bringing with them precious rootstock to establish the wine-growing industry in South Africa.
The Franschhoek Wine Tram hop-on hop-off tour is one of the best ways to discover the true essence of the Franschhoek Valley – picturesque vineyards, breathtaking scenery, warm hospitality, world-class cuisine, fine wines and a 300-year history.
Passengers aboard the hop-on, hop-off tour will experience a unique and leisurely way to see the Franschhoek Valley as they journey through rolling vineyards in an open-sided tram and open-air tram-bus, stopping in at some of South Africa’s oldest and most distinguished wine estates. A combination of tram and tram-bus transports passengers around a loop of stops, allowing them to hop off at each stop and experience the activities on offer, be it wine tasting, a cellar tour, lunch or simply a stroll through the vineyards and when they are ready, hop on to continue the tour.

I am one of the owners of Pembury Tours and set up the company in 1996 with my husband shortly after our return from a 6-year stay in the United Kingdom, during which time I worked in London and also did a Master’s Degree in Linguistics at Cambridge University.
My principal function at Pembury Tours is ensuring that we maintain a consistently high standard of work. This means I work very closely with my tour consultants as well as my administration staff. I do manage to spend about half my time tour consulting; however, something that I really enjoy! I love the challenge of compiling an itinerary for clients that meets all the criteria they have given me. My love of wildlife means that I especially enjoy working on safari itineraries, but I also like drawing up itineraries that include a “bit of everything” for first-time visitors – Cape Town, beaches, game viewing, African culture and historical insight. As a mother of young adults, I know the importance of looking for more adventurous activities that will keep them entertained and ensure a great family holiday. I am extremely well-travelled and particularly enjoy using my knowledge of travel to put together complex itineraries for discerning travellers.
My favourite safari is definitely the Okavango Delta in Botswana. It truly is one of Africa’s last wildernesses. And my favourite safari memory? It has to be my first time on a mokoro dugout canoe. The slow pace, the utter silence other than the gurgling of water under the canoe and the swish-splash of the guide’s pole, a giant Saddle-billed Stork taking off literally right over my head, the tiny brightly coloured Painted Reed Frog clinging to a papyrus reed, the fat carpenter bee collecting pollen from a water lily, the evocative call of the Fish Eagle, and then coming around a bend to see a family of elephants crossing the stream in front of me, with a tiny little calf being helped through the water by its mother and sisters. It was magical. And made me realise that slow and quiet is just as meaningful as fast and exciting.

I first joined Pembury Tours as Personal Assistant to the MD back in November 2004, on a mornings-only basis — a role that quickly grew into a full-time position. That time gave me invaluable behind-the-scenes insight into how our tour consultants support clients every day.
After a short break in 2014, I couldn’t stay away for long and returned in 2016 as a consultant based at our offices in Port Elizabeth/Gqeberha.
I love the process of organising: researching destinations, building itineraries, and handling every detail of a client’s arrangements. But just as importantly, it’s about getting to know my clients from our very first conversation, so the holiday we create truly reflects what they’re looking for.
Alongside my administrative background, I’ve also studied tour guiding, which gave me a solid grounding in local history and key sights — knowledge I draw on regularly when planning tours. These days, I specialise in tailor-made journeys through Southern Africa & East Africa. And there’s nothing quite like hearing from clients after their trip, sharing the highlights that made it unforgettable.
My favourite African landscape? Namibia, hands down. Standing atop the burnt-orange dunes of Sossusvlei one day, then watching herds shimmer across the blinding white salt pans of Etosha the next — that contrast still gives me chills. My passion for travel began at a young age when I was fortunate enough to visit Mozambique at just 10 years old. That experience sparked a lifelong love for Africa and exploring the world. After leaving school, unsure of which career path to pursue, I travelled to Israel to work on a kibbutz. It was there that the travel bug truly took hold, leading me to spend the next decade living and working in various countries around the world.

My journey with Pembury Tours began in late 2015 as an Administrative Assistant. My love for travel led me to study Tourism at school and later at college, where I knew I had found my calling. 20+ years with Pembury Tours and counting… and I still get excited about Africa!
I started my journey in the safari world more than two decades ago, and honestly? I never fell out of love with it. If anything, the more I travel, the more I appreciate just how special this part of the world is. There’s something about being out in the bush, surrounded by nature, watching animals in their natural environment and never quite knowing what you might see around the next corner.
These days, I’m a Tour Consultant at Pembury Tours, helping clients from all over the world plan their own African adventures. I love getting to know what makes each traveller tick and then putting together an itinerary that feels like their trip, rather than simply ticking off a list of places.
Outside of work, I’m a farmer’s wife and a mom to two daughters, so life is usually a happy mix of family, farm life, school runs and trying to keep everything running smoothly! Whenever I get the chance, though, my favourite escape is heading into the bush with my family and friends. It’s where I switch off, breathe a little deeper and remember just how lucky we are to call this incredible continent home.
And if you ask me about animals, be prepared… I can probably talk your ear off! Elephants have always been my absolute favourite. There’s something about their intelligence, family bonds and sheer presence that never gets old. I could happily spend hours watching a herd simply go about their day.
After so many years in the travel industry, I’ve learnt that the best trips aren’t necessarily about seeing everything — they’re about finding the right places, having those special experiences and giving yourself time to really enjoy them.

Twenty years ago, I joined Pembury Tours as a young, single travel consultant with a passion for Africa. Since then, life has taken me on an incredible journey of its own, and I am now happily married with two wonderful children. One thing that has never changed is my love for creating unforgettable travel experiences.
There is something incredibly rewarding about playing a small part in what is often a once-in-a-lifetime journey for our guests. I enjoy getting to know each traveller, understanding what makes their dream holiday unique, and carefully crafting an itinerary that is perfectly suited to them. My goal is always to ensure every detail is thoughtfully planned so that clients can simply relax and enjoy every moment of their adventure.
For me, a safari is the highlight of any trip. No matter how many I experience, the excitement never fades. Hippos and hyenas have always been among my favourite animals to spot, and every sighting feels special. More recently, I have found myself equally captivated by the smaller wonders of the bush. One particularly special moment on a recent safari was discovering hundreds of butterflies tucked away in the trees, quietly sleeping after sunset. It was a beautiful reminder that Africa’s magic is found not only in its iconic wildlife, but also in the extraordinary details that often go unnoticed.

Travel has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember, and I have been incredibly fortunate to turn that passion into a career. I have been involved in the hotel and tourism industry since 1990, and have been part of the Pembury Tours family for 20 years! How awesome is that!
Over the years, I have had the opportunity to work in some wonderful hotels and lodges across South Africa and beyond, and to experience many of the incredible destinations that Africa has to offer. I have also been lucky enough to live and work in different parts of the world, which has given me a wonderful appreciation for different cultures, people and ways of life.
Having spent many years living in game reserves, my love for the African bush and wildlife is something that has never left me. Safari remains a huge passion of mine, and there is still nothing quite like being out in the bush and sharing that experience with others.
What I love most about my work is the people. Building relationships, getting to know my clients and understanding what they are looking for means I can create journeys that are not just about seeing the sights, but about experiencing Africa in a really special and personal way.
After all these years, I still feel incredibly lucky to have turned my love of travel into a career. I get to work with wonderful people, explore incredible places and, best of all, help others experience the magic of Africa.
And after all these years in tourism, I’m still not tired of safari… although I’m pretty sure the bush has become slightly more addictive over the years! My favourite safari destination? I love the bush, but Sabi Sand and the Greater Kruger area are just fantastic for safari. The incredible wildlife, landscapes and truly special safari experiences keep drawing me back. And my favourite safari memory? Watching what started as one or two elephants walking over the top of a hill and then realising the herd was more than two, and the elephants just kept coming! Before long, there were around 60 elephants making their way over and down the hill. It was one of those magical safari moments, and I could have watched it forever.
