Arathusa Safari Lodge is a jewel within the heart of the Sabi Sand Reserve. The camp is an intimate one, completely open-plan and designed to harmoniously blend with the adjacent waterhole and African bush. The lodge flanks the bank of a large waterhole (approximately 250m x 150m), allowing for a 180-degree view of the water. An infinity swimming pool overlooks the waterhole and is the perfect spot for wildlife viewing on a smouldering African summer’s afternoon. Massive herds of buffalo, antelope and elephant families gather at the waterhole and there is also a resident herd of hippos. 13 thatched suites are within the camp’s perimeter. Each has a bathroom en-suite (with bath and separate indoor and outdoor showers), and a verandah. Meal times at Arathusa are a sociable affair. Guests are treated to sumptuous dishes, fresh produce and home-baked confectionery.

In addition to the morning and evening game drives, unique walking safaris are offered daily giving guests the opportunity to discover the hidden treasures of the region. Arathusa prides itself on its leopard viewing. As leopards are territorial, their regular appearances in the area allow their movements to be plotted. Many of the animals become familiar and are easily recognized by the rangers. Large herds of buffalo numbering in excess of 300 are often encountered. Elephants are also seen in large numbers. There are various lion prides in the area, as well as a few nomadic males. General “Lowveld” game is abundant in this section of the Sabi Sand Reserve, including giraffe, zebra, warthog, impala and more. Between game drives, lazy hours can be spent in the sparkling pool or having a massage at the Nature Spa.

Board games and books are available in the lounge area.

Early morning and evening game drives are conducted by experienced rangers and Shangaan trackers in open 4×4 vehicles, offering excellent photographic opportunities. The Timbavati is also home to the world-famous “White Lions of Timbavati”. White cubs have been born into the resident prides on Simbavati and there is an excellent chance of spotting these “ghost lions” during game drives. Between game drives, you have time to unwind. The lounge area is the perfect place to relax on a comfortable couch with a book, or you can enjoy an afternoon siesta in your room.

South Africa | Cape Town | The Commodore Hotel

Dripping in thoughtfully selected art – including a whimsical elephant statue at the cerulean swimming pool – Avondrood manages to combine gracious, old-school living with modern charm and convenience.

With an unbeatable location that is within strolling distance of Franschhoek’s best eateries, art galleries, boutiques and off-beat, family-run shops.

SUGGESTED Victoria Falls | View the Falls

As you approach the Falls and hear the water pounding and witness the vapour rising, you quickly understand why local tribesmen called the Falls “Mosi-oa-Tunya” (the smoke that thunders) and why the explorer David Livingstone exclaimed that a scene “so lovely must have been gazed upon by angels in their flight”. The great columns of spray rising from the tumultuous falls can be seen from 80 kilometres away on a clear day.

INCLUDED IN PRICE Victoria Falls | Sunset Cruise on the Zambezi River

The Ra-Ikane is a small luxury cruise boat that is outfitted to suggest, in exquisite detail, an ambience of a bygone era. This cruise boat is exclusive (14 guests only) and personalised – period decor, historic memorabilia, fine cuisine and refreshments offer a level of comfort and grace unsurpassed on the Zambezi. As afternoon fades into twilight, animals come down to the river to drink as you go by.

SUGGESTED Victoria Falls | Chinotimba Township Tour

The word Chinotimba describes the roar of the water from the mighty Victoria Falls in the local Nambya language. The Nambya and the Tonga people are the original people of the Victoria Falls area. The majority of people in Victoria Falls live in the Chinotimba township, which has a population of approximately 60,000 people.

During the Township Tour, guests will have an opportunity to observe township life – from the oldest houses to the taverns, the local market and churches. During a visit to the Chinotimba Primary School, clients are introduced to the school headmaster – he or someone assigned will take the guests on a tour of the school, after which the children may sing a song (Please note that school visits are subject to the school being open).

INCLUDED IN PRICE Sabi Sand Game Reserve | Daily Safari Programme at Arathusa Safari Lodge

The Timbavati Reserve forms part of the Greater Kruger and lies nestled between the Kruger National Park on the east, the Klaserie and Umbabat Private Nature Reserves in the north and the Thornybush Private Nature Reserve in the west. As there are no fences between Kruger National Park and the Timbavati, the reserve enjoys a wide variety of game, including the big five.

Game viewing is exceptional, with an abundance of elephant, buffalo, kudu, zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, impala, waterbuck and warthog, together with their attendant predators: lion, leopard, cheetah and hyena.

Simbavati River & Hilltop Lodge offer game drives in the early morning and evening when animals are most active. Game drives are conducted by experienced field guides and Shangaan trackers in open 4X4 vehicles, with excellent photographic opportunities. You traverse over 12,000 hectares of the big-5 game country, with lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo as well as other species such as kudu, zebra, warthog, giraffe and monkey. Nocturnal animals, including the big cats, are regularly sighted on night drives. Bird viewing is spectacular, with over 360 recorded species including various eagles, vultures, kingfishers, woodpeckers, buzzards, herons, egrets, owls, and weavers. The Timbavati Private Nature Reserve is one of the few places in the world where you have the opportunity to see the unique white lion in their natural environment. The resident lion prides of Timbavati carry the recessive gene “chinchillia’ that is responsible for this unusual anomaly. Two white lions were born into resident prides near Simbavati, and guests have a great chance of seeing these cubs while visiting Simbavati.

INCLUDED IN PRICE Timbavati Game Reserve | Daily Safari Programme at Simbavati River Lodge

Game drives take place in the early morning and evening to ensure game viewing when animals are most active. Night game drives provide a fascinating glimpse into the lives of the predators, particularly the leopard, for which this area is renowned.

You return to your lodge in time for a sumptuous safari cuisine dinner. The next day, after a light snack, you are taken on a morning game drive. You return to the lodge for a grand brunch. There is time to relax around the sunny pool, do some bird-watching from the observation deck or read a book in the peace of your room’s private veranda. If you are feeling more active, you can go on a bush walk with your ranger.

After High Tea, you set off on another evening game drive, returning again in time for dinner. On your day of departure, you will do a morning game drive and leave the lodge after brunch.

The Timbavati is brimming with various species of fowl and beast, including the sought-after Big Five, namely lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino. The reserve also boasts over 40 other species of mammals. Creatures of every shape and size abound during the day, and by night, visitors to the reserve are likely to see smaller, nocturnal mammals – such as porcupines, servals, civets and genets.

INCLUDED IN PRICE Cape Town | Half Day City and Table Mountain Tour

A tour guide takes you on a city tour of one of the world’s most beautiful cities. You will visit the historic Castle and the Bo-Kaap Malay Quarter with its narrow cobbled streets and colourful mosques. You will also visit District Six, the site of forced removals during the Apartheid era. You will view the Houses of Parliament, the City Hall and the Slave Lodge and will enjoy a walk through the Company Gardens. Weather-permitting, you will ride the cable car up Table Mountain to enjoy the view over Cape Town and across Table Bay to Robben Island. If the weather is inclement, you will be taken on a scenic drive up Signal Hill. You are transferred to the Jetty at the V&A Waterfront, where you board a ferry to Robben Island, once the prison where Nelson Mandela lived. You are met at Robben Island by an ex-prisoner and taken on a tour of the island. You then board the ferry back to the V&A Waterfront and back to your hotel later that afternoon.

INCLUDED IN PRICE Cape Town | Full Day Cape Point Tour

You are collected from your hotel by a tour guide and taken on a drive along the Atlantic seaboard via glamorous Clifton to the quaint seaside village of Hout Bay. We continue via the scenic Chapman’s Peak Drive to Cape Point. Looking at this dramatic promontory jutting into the sea gives one an idea of why early sailors nicknamed it the Cape of Storms. We then follow the coastline northwards via Simonstown, where you can visit the penguin colony of Boulders Beach. We also visit Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, which is dedicated to the extraordinary variety of plants found in the Cape Floral Kingdom. A leisurely drive through the leafy southern suburbs will bring us back to the city bowl in the late afternoon.

INCLUDED IN PRICE Franschhoek | Full Day Cape Winelands Tour

You enjoy a full-day tour of the Cape Winelands, with its backdrop of majestic mountain ranges and lush valleys today. We stop for wine tastings at a minimum of two wineries, and you have the chance to purchase some of the wines you have tasted. We visit Stellenbosch, the “town of oaks” for a short guided tour of South Africa’s second oldest town. A scenic drive over the Helshoogte Pass (Hell’s Heights) takes us to the Franschhoek Valley. French Huguenots settled in the Franschhoek Valley in the late seventeenth century, seeking refuge from religious persecution in Europe and bringing with them precious rootstock to establish the wine-growing industry in South Africa.

SUGGESTED Franschhoek | Wine Tram

The Franschhoek Wine Tram hop-on hop-off tour is one of the best ways to discover the true essence of the Franschhoek Valley – picturesque vineyards, breathtaking scenery, warm hospitality, world-class cuisine, fine wines and a 300-year history.

Passengers aboard the hop-on, hop-off tour will experience a unique and leisurely way to see the Franschhoek Valley as they journey through rolling vineyards in an open-sided tram and open-air tram-bus, stopping in at some of South Africa’s oldest and most distinguished wine estates. A combination of tram and tram-bus transports passengers around a loop of stops, allowing them to hop off at each stop and experience the activities on offer, be it wine tasting, a cellar tour, lunch or simply a stroll through the vineyards and when they are ready, hop on to continue the tour.

Our East Africa safari was perfectly crafted by Tammy for our group of four. The lodges were diverse and each had its own ambience as well as being strategically located to give us the best opportunity of viewing The Great Migration. We were fortunate to see the wildebeest race across the Mara River, and it was a sight to behold! Tammy also made arrangements for a balloon safari over the Mara, and it was breathtaking with an exquisite sunrise on the horizon. Our transfers were arranged flawlessly through Naked Wilderness with Brian as our concierge. Tammy is our go to for African safaris. She listened to and researched our requests to present us with an unforgettable experience and lasting memories!

Trip of a lifetime This is our second time using Pembury Tours and Tammy was our travel advisor once again . She is so wonderful to work with and I have reccomended her to friends. This trip was to Kenya and Tanzania. She could not have helped us pick better camps. The best thing was she arranged to have Naked Travel Adventures in Kenya, arrange all our transportation and transfers. Mary in Tanzania immigration was great. Our favorite camp was Sayari in Tanzania. Tanzania is heaven. Take a trip with Tammy and it will change your life.

Brilliant Wine Tour Brilliant Wine Tour 5/5 Having used Pembury Tours to organise a road trip and safari several years ago we reached out to Kerry Ryrie at Pembury to pull together an itinerary for a tour of Capetown, Hermanus and Franschoek/ Cape Winelands for our group of 4. As we’d be visiting a good number of vineyards along the way we asked Kerry if she’d be able to arrange private transport for us to avoid car rental and driving. Kerry put together an excellent 12 day itinerary with superb accommodation on each leg. The Winchester Boutique Hotel in Sea Point, Capetown; Harbour House, Hermanus and the Last Word in Franschoek. All first class! Kerry organised Rene Giliomee from Paradise Touring to be our dedicated driver for the whole trip. She did an amazing job of not only transferring us between locations but also organising some excellent day tours and several vineyard tours and tastings. All arrangements were handled expertly. All in all, an excellent trip and all thanks to Kerry and Rene for making it all happen. Pembury will be our first port of call in the future.

We recently returned from an extraordinary trip through Southern Africa, taking in Chobe National Park, the Sabi Sands, and Victoria Falls—and it exceeded every expectation! The itinerary was perfectly balanced between awe-inspiring natural wonders and world-class game viewing. From up-close wildlife encounters in the Sabi Sands to the incredible elephant herds in Chobe and the sheer majesty of Victoria Falls, every destination offered something unique and unforgettable. Our accommodations throughout the journey were superb. We stayed in a wonderful mix of cozy guest houses, high-quality hotels, and an absolute standout luxury lodge in the Sabi Sands. Despite traveling across multiple borders, every single transfer with our drivers was completely seamless, stress-free, and punctual. Kerry Ririe - the secret ingredient in making your trip to Africa outstanding, in every way We cannot recommend Kerry Ririe at Pembury Tours highly enough. Her incredible knowledge, experience and genuine passion for Africa have transformed our trips into unforgettable adventures. We never thought our African experiences could get any better — but somehow, they do! From Namibia to Kruger, flying over Victoria Falls, swimming to the edge of the falls at Devil’s Pool, and experiencing the incredible rapids of the Zambezi, every journey has been packed with extraordinary moments. Our mega trip to Kruger, Botswana, Okavango Delta and Zimbabwe this years was the trip that dreams are made of. What makes Kerry so special is her first-hand knowledge, thoughtful advice and ability to understand exactly what we like and enjoy — sometimes even before we know it ourselves! She listens, pays attention to the smallest details and somehow manages to create experiences that feel completely tailored to us. Kerry’s support throughout and during our travels gives us enormous confidence. We know that we are in safe hands, and that every part of our trip has been carefully considered to make it as memorable and enjoyable as possible. Africa is clearly a passion for Kerry, and that passion shines through in everything she does. We are already looking forward to our next adventure with her — because with Kerry, we know that somehow, it will be even better than the last! She truly is amazing and so much fun to work with. Everyone should have a Kerry in their lives when planning a trip to Africa.

Our trip to South Africa in May was absolutely wonderful, and so much of that came down to the guidance and care we received from Kerry Ririe at Pembury Tours. Every detail felt thought through, and we always felt looked after, from the planning stages right through the trip itself. One moment that really stood out: one of our lodgings left a tipping guide that seemed unusually high. We reached out to Kerry for a second opinion and got clear, honest guidance that helped us tip appropriately — not too much, not too little. That kind of responsiveness made a real difference. Every stop on our itinerary was terrific, from Cape Town all the way to Sabi Sands. The only minor hiccup was the food at the first lodge we stayed at after the river cruise — dinner leaned a bit too hard into "exotic" options and felt overdone. Breakfast, on the other hand, was delicious, so it balanced out nicely. Overall, this was a beautifully organized trip with genuine care behind every recommendation. I'd recommend Kerry and Pembury Tours without hesitation to anyone planning a trip to South Africa!

South Africa Bucket List When researching for this tour I was impressed with a couple of reviews that stated that all the pickups and flights worked well. It proved exactly the same for my wife and I. We went to - Cape Town, 4 days - Victoria Falls 4 days - Nkorho Lodge 4 days. Perfect length for us oldies. Hotels, guides and transport were all beyond expectations. We even had fantastic weather all the time! We saw all the animals at Nkorho reserve and Ruan and Rifos were a fantastic knowledgeable guide and tracker team. Kerry was our agent and kept us well informed with sage advice and guidance. The Pembury portal was fantastic and easy to use. We can't recommend Pembury Tours highly enough. Ron & Felicity Sydney

Great Choice for Southern Africa Expertise! This is the second time I used Pembury for travel to Southern Africa, and once gain I was delighted. Kerry Ririe was our consultant and she is a delight to work with. This was a milestone birthday trip with me and several extended family members, and every one of us were thrilled with all aspects: lodging, transport, tours… all went without a hitch. I like that Pembury is based in South Africa, so it’s clear they know the camps/hotels and are giving true on-the-ground intelligence. Our trip was Cape Town-Timbavati-Sabi Sands-Victoria Falls. A fabulous itinerary

It’s our first visit to Safari & South Africa, we were filled with anxieties about safety and reliability of the online tour operator. These worries were all dispelled by Melanie, our tour advisor, who was prompt to answer any of our queries and concerns, giving us all the assurance we needed. Our group of 4 from Singapore had a fantastic 13D12N holiday covering Kruger National Park, Victoria Fall and Capetown. We were very lucky to spot the Big Five animals in the first game drive, it’s so amazing to be just next to the wildlife and see them in their natural habitat. All the hotel and restaurant recommendations were excellent, we experienced the true African hospitality. Special thanks to Melanie!!! Without her superb coordination to every detail, our trip would not be so enjoyable. We will not hesitate to recommend Pembury & Melanie to our friends. Thank you so much Melanie!!!

This is our first safari & South Africa trip and we were skeptical to book tour via online agency initially… but upon interacting with our tour consultant, Melanie, via multiple emails, her prompt responses and helpful information gave us all the assurance we needed. We’re really pleased with Melanie’s service and support over our 13D12N holiday, every detail was thought through and hotel, restaurant recommendations were all very excellent. We’d the most amazing time in Kruger National Park, Victoria Fall and Cape Town. We did have a small hiccup with a local guide in Cape Town, but Melanie was quick to respond and resolve the issue efficiently. We’re truly thankful to have her as our tour consultant, she has made a real difference and dispelled the stress and anxiety tourists may have in traveling to SA. We give Pembury & Melanie’s services 5-star and will not hesitate to recommend friends to travel with them.

We have just returned from a 3-week adventure across Victoria Falls, Botswana and Cape Town. Pembury Tours were absolutely amazing in their planning, communication and delivery of our trip. All of the lodges and accommodation were excellent, the food was amazing and the wildlife safaris were as good as we could possibly have hoped for. This was our first visit to Africa and obviously our first safari experience, to see rhinos, lions, leopards, elephant, wild dogs and so many antelope and other animals was just incredible. I highly recommend Pembury Tours and Melanie who looked after all our trip details was a pleasure to deal with.

We loved our trip to Africa Overall our trip arranged by Heidi was terrific. We travelled from Cape Town to the Serengeti. All of our accommodations were great except for our stay in Arusha and Victoria Falls. The Illala Lodge in Victoria Falls was convenient for walking to the falls, but we learned that it was not hard to stay in a more remote spot and shuttle to the falls. The Illala was noisy due to local nightclubs. The sister lodge to Illala named Palm River would have been perfect. The Sheraton in Arusha was not good. You don’t feel comfortable leaving the premises. We learned there are places outside the city that are more guest friendly. Stays in Cape Town, Franschhoek, Sabi Sands and the Serengeti were fantastic. Our trip in total was great and look forward to doing it again.

Melanie from Pembury Tours is an absolute all-star. She planned the perfect honeymoon in Rwanda and Kenya for my husband and I. She was attentive, available and truly listened to what we wanted out of a trip and planned something that exceeded our expectations. I would recommend Pembury Tours to absolutely anyone, and will be using them again for future trips!

Trip of a lifetime! We had a wonderful experience and trip arranged by Tammy at Pembury Tours. She was always very prompt with responses regarding concerns or changes to our itinerary. We were provided with excellent and detailed documentation of every step of our tour, both online and printed. The guided tours that were arranged for us were excellent, both in Victoria Falls and Cape Town. All of our transfers and flights between locations within Africa were punctual and hassle-free. Our itinerary was as follows: 2 nights in Johannesburg - Da Vinci Suites 4 nights in Dulini Lodge in Sabi Sands (near Kruger) - first class lodging with excellent game drives. 1 night in White River (stop over) 2 nights Victoria Falls - Victoria Falls Hotel 3 nights Ngoma Lodge in Chobe - fabulous lodge 2 nights Shinde Lodge in Okavango Delta - a little more rustic but still very nice with great service 3 nights Cape Town - Radisson Blu near V&A Waterfront

An Unforgettable African Journey We Have just returned from a month long trip which Kerry Ririe from Pembury Tours arranged for our family of 3. Kerry has already sent us on remarkable vacations to South Africa, Botswana and even Zimbabwe. This time Kerry organized another trip of a lifetime with a Self drive through Namibia, stops in South Africa and concluding at the Beaches in Mozambique. Kerry's careful attention to detail and meticulous planning resulted in a fabulous custom itinerary. The many flights, the luxury lodges, the numerous transfers, and even the activities, including the safaris, were flawless. Kerry has been always extremely patient to all my requests and questions which she continually answered very quickly. In fact Kerry was even available throughout our trip. Very minor glitches were immediately and easily resolved by Kerry! Kerry's advice and recommendations and attention to details, were outstanding. Finally Kerry included The Travel Portal and even a paper copy of our itinerary - both very helpful. Of course I highly recommend Kerry and Pembury Tours. Thank you Kerry and already looking forward to our next trip planned by you! Michael

Excellent Agent Makes Excellent Trip! Our travel agent, Anya, made this an absolutely wonderful trip. From the very beginning, she put a great deal of thought into planning our itinerary, and we couldn't have been happier with how everything turned out. Every destination matched her descriptions remarkably well. The information she provided was accurate and detailed, so we knew exactly what to expect at each stop. Thanks to her careful planning, we truly had an amazing experience. To be honest, we did have some concerns at first. We booked our trip very early—about seven or eight months in advance. During that time, Anya was away several times, either on personal vacations or work trips. There seemed no back up person in her absence. However, once our trip began, Anya was on top of everything every single minute. We encountered several unexpected challenges along the way. Flight delays caused us to miss a connection, so we had to rebook flights, adjust our itinerary. Throughout it all, Anya remained calm, responsive, and incredibly efficient. She immediately took care of every issue and continuously followed up with us during the trip, including helping us find last-minute accommodations, rearrange transportation, deal with lost luggage. She is truly an outstanding travel agent. Even after our trip ended, she continued to provide exceptional support by helping us gather the necessary documents and assisting with our travel insurance claim. Her dedication and professionalism went far beyond our expectations, and we highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and caring travel advisor.

Perfection I decided to use Pembury Tours to book our trip to Africa as I thought it would be good to use a local agent rather than booking a group tour from Australia. We are so glad that we did. Everything went smoothly. Every transfer perfect. Even getting through customs in Zimbabwe went perfectly. We had the most amazing African adventure and I owe it all to Tammy at Pembury Tours. Her planning was impeccable. Tammy also worked within our limited budget and nothing was a trouble. Tammy’s responses and many emails were prompt and meant we felt comfortable using an agent so far away. I cannot recommend this company high enough.

My husband and I have just returned from Africa, we had the most amazing trip, it was organised by Melanie. The whole trip was so easy for us because everything had been organised so well, from the accommodation, tours and transport. The safari in Botswana was the highlight. Would recommend Pembury for your next trip to Africa.

i just returned from an incredible 11 night holiday in Africa and i cnanot recommend this agency enough! Especially Heidi, our travel consultant! My journey with Pembury Tours started almost a year ago when I first approached them upon a recommendation from a good friend. From the first point of contact with Heidi, she was incredibly helpful and patient. Even when we wanted to make changes to the itinerary along the way, nothing was ever too much trouble. The level of detail they provided in the documents given to us was amazing. even down to practical advice on things like tipping etiquette which helped us a lot on the trip. They handled everything for us, from domestic flights and land transfers to accommodations and day tours. When we encountered an issue with our last accommodation on a Saturday evening, I called Heidi and despite it being the weekend, she resolved everything in a couple of minutes. If you want a stress free and curated vacation, I'd highly recommend Pempury Tours! Especially Heidi! I will definitely be recommending this to any friends traveling to Africa!

I was traveling to South Africa for work, and was looking to extend the trip to do safari in Kruger National Park. I had never been to Africa before, and had no idea what to expect. Tammy Harding from Pembury created an itinerary that included lodging in two different private reserves in Greater Kruger National Park. The choice of the two private reserves was ideal, which I could appreciate only after the completion of our trip as this was my first visit to the African continent. All the arrangements were fantastic, and communication prompt and timely. Tammy's guidance on local weather conditions at the time of our visit, necessary vaccination (none for our case as our travel was restricted to South Africa) and corresponding packing list was spot on. Thanks, and for my next trip with family, i will definitely go to the team at Pembury.

Beyond words This was the trip of a lifetime and Gail with Pembury Tours didn’t miss a single detail. We had so many amazing experiences but she also had just the perfect amount of down time to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery. We had the best guides and our accommodations were spectacular. Every thing about this trip way exceeded our expectations and I believe that is because of the time and attention to detail that Gail gave in meeting our request. I would recommend this trip to anyone and make sure you let Gail help you plan it.

The Perfect Vacation to South Africa Gail with Pembury Tours was the perfect travel agent for our first trip to South Africa. Our accommodations in Sabi Sands were perfect as well as our other 3 locations. Even making a last-minute change on our last location due to weather conditions. The 3 domestic flights that she arranged with private transportation made our trip so easy. Our private tours were with professional individuals that truly loved their jobs.
