Day 5Nairobi to Masai Mara Game Reserve

Today after breakfast, you will traverse the Rift Valley and ascend its western rim into the Masai land. Red-clad, with a spear, Masai warriors tend their herds of cattle among the wildlife, admirably unmoved by the presence of large predators. The Maasai Mara is the northernmost extension of the Serengeti and a gem in itself. You will enjoy lunch at the camp and thereafter set off on your first game viewing drive.

Transfer time: Nairobi to Tipilikwani Mara Camp – approx. 5 hours

Day 5-8Masai Mara Game Reserve

Possibly the most famous of the reserves and arguably the greatest wildlife destination in Africa the Masai Mara has become synonymous with the safari and is currently being featured in the BBC’s new series Planet Earth Live.

Nature doesn’t recognise borders and the 700 square miles of the Masai Mara Reserve effectively continue the northern sweep of neighbouring Tanzania’s Serengeti plains, thus forming one huge ecosystem. The Mara lands are famous for the annual Wildebeest migration which occurs from June to October, when the Mara becomes host to an almost unimaginable half a million wildebeest seeking the grasses raised by the spring rains of April and May. Having exhausted the grazing in the northern Serengeti, the wildebeest head north en masse. This is an awesome sight in the true meaning of the word, which, when coupled with the sound of thousands upon thousands of hooves pounding the earth, makes it an unforgettable spectacle.

The Wildebeest are not the only tenants of the land. The Mara is also the home to, among others, zebra, elephants, and the big cats; cheetahs, lions and leopards. Hyena, jackal, buffalo, eland, topi, impala, gazelle, warthog, add to this huge diversity of wildlife.

Day 8Masai Mara to Serengeti National Park

This morning after an early breakfast you will be transferred to Mara Ol Kiombo Airstrip for your flight on Air Kenya Aviation to Serengeti via Tarime. At Tarime you will go through customs and immigration. Your onward flight departs Tarime for Kogatende in Serengeti National Park.

On arrival at Kogatende at approximately 12h30, you will be met by your camp driver/guide at the Airstrip and taken on a short game drive en route to the camp for lunch. The vast grasslands of the renowned Serengeti National Park provide what many consider to be the quintessential African game viewing experience.

Flight time: Mara Ol Kiombo to Tarime – approx. 1 hour 55 minutes
Flight time: Tarime to Kokatende – approx. 1 hour
Transfer time: Kokatende to Camp – approx. 1 hour

Day 8-10Serengeti National Park

Meaning ‘endless plains’ in the language of the Maasai, this land of immense open spaces is home to literally millions of large herbivores, as well as the accompanying carnivores. The Serengeti is renowned for having the largest concentration of migratory animals in the world, and is also famous for its large lion population. The Serengeti National Park forms part of a huge conservation area, encompassing the adjacent Ngorongoro Conservation Area, as well as the Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya. With no fences or man-made barriers, huge numbers of wildlife move freely throughout this area. After your afternoon game drive, you will arrive back at camp at sunset to enjoy your dinner and retire for the night.

Day 10Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, depart with a picnic lunch and drive through the Ngorongoro Highlands to your lodge situated on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater. The crater covers over 102 square miles (250 square kilometres) of land and is the home of the rare black rhino, prides of lion, elephant, cheetah and great herds of buffalo, antelope and wildebeest. Lunch at the lodge and afternoon at leisure to enjoy the sunset.

Transfer time: Camp to Ngorongoro Crater – approx. 5 hours

Day 10-12Ngorongoro Crater

“It is impossible to give a fair description of the size and beauty of the Crater, for there is nothing with which one can compare it. It is one of the Wonders of the World,” quote by the late Professor Bernhard Grzimek, a famous and respected naturalist. Spanning roughly 8,300 sq km (3,192 sq mi), the Ngorongoro Conservation Area is a perfect microcosm of East Africa: it combines spectacular scenery and valuable archaeological sites with mountains, forests, grassland plains, extinct volcanoes, and a staggering profusion of wildlife. Central to the Area is the Ngorongoro Crater, the floor of which covers an area of 260 sq kms (100 sq miles). The road meanders along the rim of the crater affording breathtaking views and descends 2,000 feet to the crater floor. Ngorongoro Crater is really a caldera, the sunken or collapsed cone of a volcano. It is the largest inactive, unbroken and unflooded caldera in the world. Living on the floor of the crater are bull elephants, lions, hyenas, zebras, and wildebeest, among others living on the grasslands and acacia forests. The crater also has a soda lake – Lake Magadi, the word magadi translates to salt water in Maasai. The lake attracts greater and lesser flamingos and other water birds. The crater is best known as a highly successful sanctuary for the endangered black rhino. The settings in which you watch the animals are beautiful; the crater is an outstanding place for photography as well as direct observation. The groundwater springs are said to be highly nutritious, and the Maasai bring their cattle into the crater daily to drink as they have done for centuries.

Day 12Ngorongoro Crater to Zanzibar

Today you will enjoy your final breakfast on safari. You will be picked up from your lodge and transferred by road to Arusha Airport for your flight to Zanzibar. Upon arrival at Zanzibar Airport you will be met and transferred to your resort.

Transfer time: Lodge to Arusha – approx. 4 hours
Flight time: Arusha to Zanzibar – approx. 1 hour 30 minutes
Transfer time: Zanzibar Airport to Resort – approx. 1 hour

Day 12-15Zanzibar

The “spice island” of Zanzibar, located 26 miles off the coast of Tanzania, is a prime location from which to enjoy the Indian Ocean’s clear turquoise waters. Combine this with the stirring slave-trade history that comes alive in Stone Town, and you have the perfect complement to your African safari adventure.

Your days on Zanzibar will be leisurely ― you can enjoy snorkelling, swim with dolphins, try your hand at windsurfing, indulge in a luxurious spa treatment or two, walk through a forest filled with monkeys, or simply relax on the beautiful white-sand beaches. Enjoy the many amenities of your beautiful Indian Ocean beach resort.

Optional activities include snorkelling, scuba diving, windsurfing, and enjoying the full-service spa (some activities are at additional expense). Embark on an exciting excursion to Kizimkazi, where it is sometimes possible to swim with the dolphins.

Day 15Departure

This unique style of Eco lodge is placed on a strategic landscape in the foothills of Mount Bisoke and Karisimbi, one of the volcanic mountains that make up the Virunga Massif. The lodge is about 5 minutes to the park ranger station and about a 10-minute drive to the main entrance of the Volcanoes National Park, where gorilla trekking starts. It is placed in an area of around 3 hectares and due to its privacy, it has only 8 spacious chalets in the form of your own natural house.

Kenya | Nairobi | Southern Sun Mayfair

Situated in the Westlands suburb, the hotel bustles with activity and captures the charm and crisp service of an English country inn. It has a quaint charm, and the lobby and reception glow with brass figures, wood panelling and Kenyan marble underfoot. Light flows into the hotel through the louvre window, which allows views of the gardens.

The hotel has 171 rooms and is built in several wings rambling under mature trees. The central garden areas are traversed by pathways. All rooms are en suite with a telephone, TV, tea and coffee making facilities. Other facilities include restaurants, bars, swimming pools, a safari boutique, a casino, a business centre, conference centres, and hair salon and a health club.

Kenya | Masai Mara | Tipilikwani Mara Camp

This uniquely situated luxury camp on the banks of the Talek River overlooks the mottled plains of the Maasai Mara, where vast herds of wildlife co-exist with the colourful Maasai people. Between June and October, the Maasai Mara plays host to one of the most spectacular wildlife shows on earth, the great annual migration of over a million wildebeest and zebra as they enter the Mara ecosystem from the Serengeti in neighbouring Tanzania. Tipilikwani’s 20 tents enjoy river frontage and are decorated with warm, rich Maasai colours. The family tents have a stand-alone bathtub in addition to showers. Excellent food, personalised service and traditional Kenyan hospitality further complement the prime location.

Game drives offer the unforgettable opportunity to enjoy the diversity of animals and birds living permanently in the Masai Mara, as well as many migratory species. Guests can also learn more about the Masai people, proud pastoralists and warriors, many of whom still retain their traditional nomadic lifestyle.

Tanzania | Serengeti National Park | Nasikia Mobile Migration Camp

At Nasikia Mobile Camp, 8-12 tents remain mobile throughout the year, depending on seasonal reservation requirements and the location of the wildebeest migration. They endeavour to retain the uniqueness and intimacy of the camp, whilst being directed by the location, wildlife and other factors of responsible tourism. From June to October, it is located at Kogatende, in the far northern areas of the Serengeti. The game drives can easily get to the Kogatende and Mara Rivers in the hope of gaining a view as the herds run the gauntlet of crocodiles as they cross the rivers. This is typically ideal, especially between mid-July and mid-September each year.

Each tent is 12m long by 4m wide, made from well-known heavy-duty safari rip-stop canvas made locally at Morogoro, southern Tanzania, plus the additional cooling feature of shade-clothing over the entire tent. You are met at the entrance (on the longest side of the tent) by a patio area with chairs and a table for relaxing when you have a moment. The front of the tents zips fully open, including a layer of mosquito netting and the rip-stop canvas (which zips completely closed) with both layers. Once you step into the tent into the bedroom area, you will see an arrangement of unique furniture like a desk and chair, storage chest (with extra blankets), matting, wardrobe with robes, slippers, an umbrella and laundry bag, luggage racks, torch/whistle/camp information folder, bedside tables, bed footers and beds (depending on room configuration). All the fittings depict colours in natural tones to adhere to the intrinsic area we are located. Each bed is fully netted for custom-made protection from mosquitoes and insects. The beds are fitted with imported cotton sheets, double pillows, duvets and bed runners for your comfort. The tents have netted windows down each side of the tent which you can fully open with the mosquito netting stitched strongly into the actual tent.

Then comes the bathroom area, which can be accessed directly from the bedroom with a separate doorway. Once inside, there is a bathroom stand with a ceramic wash basin with running water via stylish taps, a mirror, a supply of natural-based bathroom products, and linen to suit. This area also displays a woven grass mat and clothes rack. Within this area, there are additional toilet and shower areas for privacy. Inside the toilet area is a ceramic flushing toilet, encased in a wooden frame for stability. Inside the shower area, is a stand for washing behind a shower curtain under a 20-litre PVC bucket erected on a pulley system as required. From the entrance of the bedroom and onto the bathroom, each tent is fitted with an extensive solar lighting system for your convenience.

Tanzania | Ngorongoro Crater Conservancy | Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge

Facing the always magnificent sunsets to the west, and located at the highest point on Ngorongoro crater’s entire rim, Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge stands well over half a kilometre above the crater floor and offers unparalleled views across this enormous caldera. Themed around traditionally circular African houses with conical roofs, and decorated with examples of Africa’s rich tapestry of artistic traditions by way of rich woodcarvings and sculptures, the lodge harmonizes perfectly with its dramatic surroundings. But the drama does not just stop with the great outdoors: it also flows through the split-level interiors of the main building, which all offer an unsurpassed generosity of space while somehow managing to combine an almost magically welcoming ambience of both warmth and cosiness. Brightly coloured flowers of many species of shrubs border the paved pathways which lead away from both sides of the swimming pool to our guest rooms which are built to the same design.

When you step through your door, you will probably hold your breath while you stare over the two queen size beds, and through the window walling of the lower level, enclosed solarium at the view of the crater beyond. And the luxury doesn’t stop there. Because of its altitude, the lodge can be chilly at night so each room has central heating; hot water bottles are placed in every bed during our evening turndown service; and our luxuriously appointed bathrooms have extremely spacious showers under which you can reminisce about the wonders of this awesome, almost magically mystical place called Ngorongoro.

All rooms are equipped with amenities to ensure maximum comfort during your stay with us. Among these are our wake-up calls and complimentary coffee and tea, all of which will help to kick-start an early morning game drive.

Zanzibar | Bluebay Beach Resort

Situated on the east coast of Zanzibar, Blue Bay Beach Resort is a spacious and luxurious retreat set in over 30 acres of tropical gardens and sparkling white sandy beaches. The resort has long reflected the historical charm and style of its famous island home with its eclectic African style and a rich Indian Ocean heritage that is obvious throughout the resort.

Rooms and suites are located on raised ground overlooking verdant gardens. Guests will enjoy the traditional Zanzibari-style furnishings in the 112 rooms. Each offers an en suite bathroom, air conditioning, ceiling fan, mosquito nets, veranda, mini bar, hairdryer, telephone, satellite TV, safe and tea & coffee-making facilities.

INCLUDED IN PRICE Kigali | Half Day City Tour

You will spend the morning taking a tour of this bustling African city. You will visit places of interest, including the Natural History Museum, the Genocide Memorial and the Mille Collines Hotel (famous for the movie Hotel Rwanda). Learn about Rwanda’s history from pre-colonial times to the 1994 genocide and how Rwanda has dealt with that past. You will also get a chance to visit one of the city’s craft markets, where you get a chance to see some traditional Rwandan arts and crafts (as well as do a bit of souvenir shopping).

INCLUDED IN PRICE Volcanoes National Park | Gorilla Trekking

After an early breakfast, you will head out with your guide to the Kinigi Park Headquarters. On arrival, you will be allocated guides and briefed before heading into the forest to track one of the 8 habituated Gorilla groups in Rwanda. Only 8 people are able to track each habituated group. The tracking of these magnificent animals can take between 2 to 6 hours, depending on the movement of the gorilla groups (their territory can range up to 40km). The park rangers and guides will clear the way and assist you through the forest. Once the gorilla group is located, you will spend an hour with them as they feed, rest and play.

Habituation of a gorilla group takes a minimum of two years, with daily visits to allow the gorilla group to tolerate human presence. It is only when the gorillas are completely comfortable with human presence that tourists are allowed to share the daily hour of contact with them.

Sitting with the mountain gorilla is one of the most amazing wildlife experiences you will ever have. A dominant male silverback can weigh over 200 kilos and is the largest living primate. He will control our meeting as well as decide when his group will eat, sleep and move on. His females care for their young with affection and playfulness, but also with discipline. They are very curious and are capable of making over 25 different vocalisations, including chuckling and purring. Communication also includes posturing, chest beating and if all else fails, the charge! The privilege of spending an hour with this family group is an experience that will never leave you. After your hour is up, you wind your way slowly out of the forest and back to the camp to swap stories about your amazing experience.

INCLUDED IN PRICE Volcanoes National Park | Golden Monkey Trek

The golden monkeys are a rare species of Old World monkey now found only in the Virunga mountain range. Now endangered it is one of the species on the endangered red list. It lives in social groups of up to 90 individuals, usually led by one adult male. There are two habituated groups of Golden Monkey, one group comprises around 80 – 100 members and has its home at the foot of Mt Sabyinyo. As with treks to see the Mountain Gorillas, treks to see the Golden Monkeys take place in the mornings and visitors are permitted to stay for 1 hour with the monkeys.

INCLUDED IN PRICE Masai Mara Game Reserve | Daily Safari Programme at Tipilikwani Mara Camp

Early Morning and afternoon game drives in the Masai Mara National Reserve, Kenya’s best and most scenic game park. At the northern extremity of the unique Serengeti ecosystem, blessed with a permanent water supply, the Masai Mara has a thriving, permanent population of plains game, augmented in the dry season by the migration of two million gnus and zebras from the vast, parched Serengeti plains. Of the hunter’s “big five,” elephant, buffalo, lion, and leopard are quite common, while even the much rarer rhino might come out of the thicket for you. Hyenas are plentiful, and the cheetah, a 60 miles per hour daytime hunter, is often seen.

Besides being the setting for the ancient and often tragic spectacle of the Great Migration, other marvels of the Masai Mara include giraffes, elephants, red-tailed monkeys and a host of antelopes. Twice-daily interpretive game drives led by our highly trained and experienced rangers, bird watching with resident guides and naturalists, reveal the wonders of the Mara.

SUGGESTED Masai Mara | Hot Air Balloon Safari

Some things are worth getting up early for, and this is certainly one of them. Rising before the birds and heading out in the silence of the pre-dawn towards the launch site is all part of the anticipation. Perhaps one of the Serengeti’s more elusive inhabitants will be caught in the headlights on this nocturnal game drive.

Your pilot takes you through the important safety briefing ahead of your flight as the sky begins to lighten and the crew inflates the balloon – an envelope of savannah gold and acacia green billowing into the cool morning, lit by the flames of the burners. You climb into the basket and prepare to lift into the dawn.

Each flight is a different journey dictated by the direction of the wind, where the sights and sounds rise from the ground to meet you. We know where we’ve started, but we don’t know where we will return to earth. This is part of the adventure. Sometimes the basket will be gently brushing the tips of the grass and then climbing, climbing through the layers of air until you’re high enough to see the curve of the horizon, painted gold and pink by the early sun. Our pilots not only have years of experience in harnessing the African wind, but are also interpreters of the wild lives in the ebb and flow of the landscape below. Around an hour or so after you lift into the sky, the basket will return to the plains of the Serengeti. But it’s not over yet.

“The Winds have welcomed you with softness. The Sun has blessed you with its warm hands….” The balloonist’s tradition is to toast the flight with bubbly. A short walk or drive from your landing spot will find you raising a glass to your time in the skies. We then seek to take care of earthly concerns and whisk you off by safari car to our special Serengeti breakfast spot.

Serengeti National Park | Daily Safari Programme at Nasikia Mobile Migration Camp

As dawn breaks over the Serengeti, a gentle tap on your door will wake you to the delights of a new day. Your guide will discuss what you hope to see that day over fragrant tea or coffee and morning biscuits or rusks. Set out in our specially designed 4×4 safari vehicle in the company of your guide.

Return to the lodge for a delicious breakfast, with platters of fruit and cheese, followed by a selection of hot breakfast dishes. Choose from eggs, oats, waffles or a number of other options. If you prefer, you can take a packed breakfast and prolong your morning game drive. There’s time for a quick siesta before lunch, which is served in the main restaurant

Head off in search of the wildlife in the cooler late afternoon. The herds head out to drink before settling down for the night, while the predators are warming up for the night’s hunting. Stop at a scenic spot for sundowners as the sun sinks beneath the endless plains before returning to the lodge for a mouth-watering dinner and discussions of the adventures of the day.

INCLUDED IN PRICE Ngorongoro Crater Conservancy | Full Day Crater Tour

Breakfast at the lodge, on both days you will descend 2000 feet (over 600 meters) to the floor of the crater for a full day crater tour with picnic lunch. Explore the forest areas that are inhabited by monkeys and elephants, the lake area, where you may see the flamingos and the open savannah where the lions hunt for food. Return to the lodge at sunset to enjoy an African sundowner.

The crater floor of Ngorongoro; the Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest intact caldera in an exceptional geographical position, forming a spectacular bowl of about 265 square kilometres with sides up to 600m deep, the stalking ground of around 20,000 to 30,000 wild animals at any one time.

The crater floor consists of a number of ecological environments that include grassland, swamps, forests and Lake Makat, a central soda lake filled by the Munge River. All these various habitats attract various wildlife to drink, wallow, graze, hide or climb. Although animals are free to move in and out of this contained environment, the rich volcanic soil, lush forests and spring source lakes on the crater floor tend to incline both grazers and predators to remain here throughout the year.

SUGGESTED Zanzibar | Beach Activities

A range of activities are offered at Blue Bay Beach Resort – the most popular include snorkelling, deep-sea fishing and diving in the spectacular waters of the Indian Ocean. The resort also features a fitness centre, spa and tennis court. Those who would rather sip cocktails and catch the sun can do so by the pool or on the resort’s beaches. Otherwise, set off and explore the tropical island of Zanzibar on a tour of a spice plantation or the intriguing capital, Stone Town.

Excellent Safari & SA Holiday! This is our first safari & South Africa trip and we were skeptical to book tour via online agency initially… but upon interacting with our tour consultant, Melanie, via multiple emails, her prompt responses and helpful information gave us all the assurance we needed. We’re really pleased with Melanie’s service and support over our 13D12N holiday, every detail was thought through and hotel, restaurant recommendations were all very excellent. We’d the most amazing time in Kruger National Park, Victoria Fall and Cape Town. We did have a small hiccup with a local guide in Cape Town, but Melanie was quick to respond and resolve the issue efficiently. We’re truly thankful to have her as our tour consultant, she has made a real difference and dispelled the stress and anxiety tourists may have in traveling to SA. We give Pembury & Melanie’s services 5-star and will not hesitate to recommend friends to travel with them.

We have just returned from a 3-week adventure across Victoria Falls, Botswana and Cape Town. Pembury Tours were absolutely amazing in their planning, communication and delivery of our trip. All of the lodges and accommodation were excellent, the food was amazing and the wildlife safaris were as good as we could possibly have hoped for. This was our first visit to Africa and obviously our first safari experience, to see rhinos, lions, leopards, elephant, wild dogs and so many antelope and other animals was just incredible. I highly recommend Pembury Tours and Melanie who looked after all our trip details was a pleasure to deal with.

We loved our trip to Africa Overall our trip arranged by Heidi was terrific. We travelled from Cape Town to the Serengeti. All of our accommodations were great except for our stay in Arusha and Victoria Falls. The Illala Lodge in Victoria Falls was convenient for walking to the falls, but we learned that it was not hard to stay in a more remote spot and shuttle to the falls. The Illala was noisy due to local nightclubs. The sister lodge to Illala named Palm River would have been perfect. The Sheraton in Arusha was not good. You don’t feel comfortable leaving the premises. We learned there are places outside the city that are more guest friendly. Stays in Cape Town, Franschhoek, Sabi Sands and the Serengeti were fantastic. Our trip in total was great and look forward to doing it again.

An Unforgettable African Journey We Have just returned from a month long trip which Kerry Ririe from Pembury Tours arranged for our family of 3. Kerry has already sent us on remarkable vacations to South Africa, Botswana and even Zimbabwe. This time Kerry organized another trip of a lifetime with a Self drive through Namibia, stops in South Africa and concluding at the Beaches in Mozambique. Kerry's careful attention to detail and meticulous planning resulted in a fabulous custom itinerary. The many flights, the luxury lodges, the numerous transfers, and even the activities, including the safaris, were flawless. Kerry has been always extremely patient to all my requests and questions which she continually answered very quickly. In fact Kerry was even available throughout our trip. Very minor glitches were immediately and easily resolved by Kerry! Kerry's advice and recommendations and attention to details, were outstanding. Finally Kerry included The Travel Portal and even a paper copy of our itinerary - both very helpful. Of course I highly recommend Kerry and Pembury Tours. Thank you Kerry and already looking forward to our next trip planned by you! Michael

Excellent Agent Makes Excellent Trip! Our travel agent, Anya, made this an absolutely wonderful trip. From the very beginning, she put a great deal of thought into planning our itinerary, and we couldn't have been happier with how everything turned out. Every destination matched her descriptions remarkably well. The information she provided was accurate and detailed, so we knew exactly what to expect at each stop. Thanks to her careful planning, we truly had an amazing experience. To be honest, we did have some concerns at first. We booked our trip very early—about seven or eight months in advance. During that time, Anya was away several times, either on personal vacations or work trips. There seemed no back up person in her absence. However, once our trip began, Anya was on top of everything every single minute. We encountered several unexpected challenges along the way. Flight delays caused us to miss a connection, so we had to rebook flights, adjust our itinerary. Throughout it all, Anya remained calm, responsive, and incredibly efficient. She immediately took care of every issue and continuously followed up with us during the trip, including helping us find last-minute accommodations, rearrange transportation, deal with lost luggage. She is truly an outstanding travel agent. Even after our trip ended, she continued to provide exceptional support by helping us gather the necessary documents and assisting with our travel insurance claim. Her dedication and professionalism went far beyond our expectations, and we highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and caring travel advisor.

Perfection I decided to use Pembury Tours to book our trip to Africa as I thought it would be good to use a local agent rather than booking a group tour from Australia. We are so glad that we did. Everything went smoothly. Every transfer perfect. Even getting through customs in Zimbabwe went perfectly. We had the most amazing African adventure and I owe it all to Tammy at Pembury Tours. Her planning was impeccable. Tammy also worked within our limited budget and nothing was a trouble. Tammy’s responses and many emails were prompt and meant we felt comfortable using an agent so far away. I cannot recommend this company high enough.

My husband and I have just returned from Africa, we had the most amazing trip, it was organised by Melanie. The whole trip was so easy for us because everything had been organised so well, from the accommodation, tours and transport. The safari in Botswana was the highlight. Would recommend Pembury for your next trip to Africa.

i just returned from an incredible 11 night holiday in Africa and i cnanot recommend this agency enough! Especially Heidi, our travel consultant! My journey with Pembury Tours started almost a year ago when I first approached them upon a recommendation from a good friend. From the first point of contact with Heidi, she was incredibly helpful and patient. Even when we wanted to make changes to the itinerary along the way, nothing was ever too much trouble. The level of detail they provided in the documents given to us was amazing. even down to practical advice on things like tipping etiquette which helped us a lot on the trip. They handled everything for us, from domestic flights and land transfers to accommodations and day tours. When we encountered an issue with our last accommodation on a Saturday evening, I called Heidi and despite it being the weekend, she resolved everything in a couple of minutes. If you want a stress free and curated vacation, I'd highly recommend Pempury Tours! Especially Heidi! I will definitely be recommending this to any friends traveling to Africa!

Great itinerary, perfect execution and timely communication I was traveling to South Africa for work, and was looking to extend the trip to do safari in Kruger National Park. I had never been to Africa before, and had no idea what to expect. Tammy Harding from Pembury created an itinerary that included lodging in two different private reserves in Greater Kruger National Park. The choice of the two private reserves was ideal, which I could appreciate only after the completion of our trip as this was my first visit to the African continent. All the arrangements were fantastic (airport pickups, lodgings), and communication prompt and timely. Tammy's guidance on local weather conditions at the time of our visit, necessary vaccination (none for our case as our travel was restricted to South Africa) and corresponding packing list was spot on. Thanks, and for my next trip with family, i will definitely go to the team at Pembury.

Beyond words This was the trip of a lifetime and Gail with Pembury Tours didn’t miss a single detail. We had so many amazing experiences but she also had just the perfect amount of down time to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery. We had the best guides and our accommodations were spectacular. Every thing about this trip way exceeded our expectations and I believe that is because of the time and attention to detail that Gail gave in meeting our request. I would recommend this trip to anyone and make sure you let Gail help you plan it.

The Perfect Vacation to South Africa Gail with Pembury Tours was the perfect travel agent for our first trip to South Africa. Our accommodations in Sabi Sands were perfect as well as our other 3 locations. Even making a last-minute change on our last location due to weather conditions. The 3 domestic flights that she arranged with private transportation made our trip so easy. Our private tours were with professional individuals that truly loved their jobs.

Thank you again Anya Anya from Pembury Tours planned a perfect 9 day trip to Botswana ( Delta) and Zambia for my wife and I with the perfect mix of 3 luxury lodges that complimented each other nicely. Land based lodge followed by a water/ island lodge and wrapped up with the fantastic Mukwa River lodge right on the mighty Zambezi river bank. The trip all went to plan with the organised assistance at the various airports certainly appreciated. Her communication was always timely and clear in the lead up and we would certainly recommend her and her organisation to others.

Perfect in Every Way Perfect in Every Way! 5/5 Anya, at Pembery Tours, planned a three week holiday in South Africa. From our initial contact, Anya listened carefully to our desires and dreams for this once-in-lifetime tour. Since we had never visited SA or done a safari before, we had a ton of questions and were quite daunted by the process. Anya’s experience touring herself, as well as years of planning for others, cut through the confusion easily and we were soon presented with some amazing tour options. And these weren’t cookie cutter tours, but ones that included some less common options, especially Swartland, a newer and less visited wine region that my husband had been reading about. Anya reached out to wineries that don’t often accept visitors and other desired experiences, such as a visit with some specialized nonprofits in Cape Town - every request we made was met with a helpful and enthusiastic response. We loved EVERYTHING about our trip and, upon reflection since we have been home, would not change a thing. The itinerary, the two safaris, the hotels, the flights, the restaurant recommendations…. all top-notch. I could go on and on… A final comment - Pembery works with great partners. Our many drivers and guides were so knowledgeable, helpful, kind, and fun. We learned so much from each of them and and they made each day memorable and rich. We left SA considering them as friends. If you are like us, wanting a memorable experience but confused about how to make it happen, or even if you have done this before but want some expert advice, contact Anya. Anya and Pembery tours are the Gold Standard of African travel!

A great trip arranged by Tammy from Pembury Tours We have just returned from a terrific two week trip to South Africa arranged for us by Tammy from Pembury Tours. During the planning process Tammy was extremely patient and helpful in responding to our numerous questions and giving advice on where to stay and what to do. From arriving in Cape Town, taking the garden route to Knysna, St Francis Bay, Pemba game reserve and flying back to Franschhoek. Everything went like clockwork and was as promised. Tammy remained extremely helpful all through our trip and seemed genuinely interested in how things were going. We never felt like we were just another customer. Tammy even arranged a doctor’s appointment for my wife immediately we asked for some advice. The travel portal was a great asset for everything to do with the trip and we used it virtually every day. Pembury had also arranged for a paper copy of everything to be given to us by our transfer driver when we arrived in Cape Town. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Tammy and Pembury Tours if you were thinking of a South Africa trip.

Excellent tour operator delivering seamless, stress-free travel We had an absolutely brilliant trip to South Africa, and I can’t recommend (Tammy from) Pembury Tours highly enough. From the very beginning, the advice and planning were outstanding and the entire holiday was put together seamlessly - from flights, to hotels, to the hire car and everything in between. The whole experience from the safari to the drive along the beautiful Garden Route was unforgettable. Every hotel we stayed in was unique, welcoming, and exceptional. It honestly felt like each stop could have been a destination in itself. Throughout the trip everything ran smoothly and all the information provided beforehand made things incredibly easy for us. A real highlight was the Travel Portal which beautifully documented every part of the trip. It contained everything we needed in one place, along with a wealth of useful information about South Africa - from safety advice, to tipping guidance, and suggestions for activities and attractions. What really stood out was how stress-free the entire experience was. All the hard work had clearly been taken care of, which meant we could simply relax and enjoy every moment. It was a truly memorable trip from start to finish, and we would not hesitate to recommend them.

An unforgettable African travel experiences with exceptional attention to detail. Our honeymoon, planned by Gail and Pembury Tours, was nothing short of extraordinary. From start to finish, every detail was perfectly curated, allowing us to fully relax and soak in every magical moment. We had the absolute privilege of experiencing the breathtaking Okavango Delta in Botswana, followed by the awe-inspiring Victoria Falls in both Zambia and Zimbabwe. Each destination was unique and unforgettable, and the seamless transitions between locations made the entire journey stress-free and enjoyable. Gail truly went above and beyond in every aspect of the planning. Her attention to detail, care, and dedication ensured that our honeymoon exceeded all expectations. It was clear that she put so much thought into creating a once in a lifetime experience for us. We cannot recommend Gail and Pembury Tours enough. If you are looking for a perfectly planned, unforgettable travel experience, they are the team to trust. We will most definitely be using them again in the future!

The absolute best service Susan was recommended to us by a friend of a friend, and I am *so* grateful she was! We were planning a trip to South Africa, and were overwhelmed by choices and really unsure how to choose between them. Susan gave us excellent advice and made some superb recommendations, from which we picked Umlani Bush Camp from the Timbavati reserve. Susan took care of all the arrangements, and sent us a super useful itinerary and travel guide, which we relied upon heavily throughout our South African adventure. She also helped us find a hotel in Johannesburg and gave us really good advice about building our itinerary there. We had the most magical four nights at Umlani. It was everything Susan had said, and more. And she was available on email and WhatsApp throughout the period leading up to our stay and during it. We were confident that we were well informed, well supported and enthusiastically cared for. Susan helped us build a really special holiday, the memories of which will last a lifetime.I would not hesitate to recommend Susan to anyone wanting to book a safari - or indeed any element of a holiday in South Africa.

South Africa We are grateful to Anya and her Pembury team for planning our fantastic South African Tour. We miss South Africa already. All of the arrangements Anya made for the tour were spot on from the greetings and transfers from the airports, the hotels, tours and activities. Every aspect progressed smoothly in a professional, friendly and timely matter. Anya took our requests seriously including the pace of the trip, the choice and location of the hotels and the activities. The restaurants and hotels were genuinely happy to share our anniversary with us which made the visits even more special. We have a better understanding of the beauty of South Africa, its people, its animal treasures and especially its food as we tried lots and lots of food. The safari at Seti exceeded our expectations as we saw the big 5. Planned activities at Victoria Falls, Sabi Sabi, Cape Town and Franschhoek were all memorable and highly enjoyed. We cannot recommend Anya and Pembury Tours enough.

AMAZING!! trip to Southern Africa organized by Kerry Ririe of Pembury Tours Our visit to southern Africa was, in a word, AMAZING. Thank you so much Kerry for working with us to design a fabulous custom itinerary. Travelling between 7 different locations in 4 countries in a 3 week trip we're sure was a logistical challenge. We could appreciate the complexities of arranging all the local flights, road transfers, personal guide excursions, border crossings, site-seeing activities, safari destinations, the river cruise and fabulous accommodations everywhere. You did an amazing job coordinating every step of our journey as everything went unbelievably smoothly. We were so fortunate to be introduced to Pembury tours, and Kerry, your personal efforts putting the trip together with us were exceptional. Having no experience organizing a trip to a continent we knew nothing about, we appreciated the dialogue we had with you exploring the many options available. You clearly listened well to what we wanted from the trip and you made very good recommendations that enhanced our experience. Thank you!!
