Client Review

As this was our third visit to Africa we knew exactly what kind of experiences we wanted to do but did not really know where to go for the best safari and beach destinations. After contacting Kerry again and explaining that we wanted to do about a week in Game Reserves with good game viewing in comfortable lodges and another week at a small but luxurious beach resort she certainly delivered. We did not want to spend a lot of time travelling between the Game Reserves and the Beach Resort but we also did not want to settle for second best.

Kerry came up with the ideal solution and being able to be on Safari in the Kruger National Park on one day and relaxing on a beautiful yet private Beach resort the next was perfect.

Thank you Kerry for putting this together for us and we are so happy that it worked perfectly. Again, it has been great working with you. Look forward to our next trip!

Tour Consultant's Overview

It is always fun planning the next trip for returning clients. So when Judy contacted me in February to chat about their next trip to Africa, they had in mind what they wanted to do. Safari and beach ........... With a combination of safari in the wonderful Sabi Sand and southern Kruger National Park followed by a few days on the beach in Mozambique, this worked perfectly for what Judy and Dave were looking at for their holiday. Not too much travelling time between the areas, which was another request for their trip.

Kruger National Park: Daily Safari Programme at Lukimbi Safari Lodge

Lukimbi Safari Lodge is situated in the game rich, southern section of the world renowned Kruger National Park. Bounded by 3 major river systems, the extensive 15 000 hectare area offers a diverse array of habitats. Vast grasslands dominate the northern portion, whereas the southern and central areas are more heavily wooded and interspersed with lush riverine thickets.

This provides ideal habitat for large herds of zebra, wildebeest and other plains animals. White rhino enjoy the numerous pans and wallows, whilst the shyer and more elusive black rhino can be found in the more thickly wooded areas. Herds of buffalo roam through grasslands seeking the succulent grasses, before moving down to rivers to amble slowly through the reeds. Elephants can frequently be seen all over the concession and in the river in front of the lodge is a favourite place for them to spend hours at a time. Guests relaxing at the lodge pools can find themselves enthralled, watching elephant families equally enjoying their own pools, particularly if the families include endearing babies.

Where you find animals, you find the predators. Tracking lions in open vehicles is one of the most exciting things to do and guests will never forget the spine chilling and awesome sound of a lion roaring at close quarters. Leopards are also found at Lukimbi, more difficult to spot, but guests are rewarded with the sight of one of the most beautiful animals in the world. Twice-daily game drives are conducted in open vehicles, led by an experience field guide and local Shangaan tracker.

During daily walks, field guides will fascinate guests with information on the smaller reptiles and insects, which they might have missed on drives. Inquisitive giraffe frequently amuse guests on walks, as they watch the guests watching them, their long, luxuriant eyelashes never failing to charm. Lukimbi is a birders’ paradise, as there are over 420 species of birds to

Mozambique: Tropical Beach Days at Machangulo

The diverse biospheres surrounding Machangulo Beach Lodge teams with epic nature, waiting to be explored. What better way to do this than in a kayak? Paddling through the estuaries and the bays or even on the offshore reefs promises some amazing encounters with nature. If you are lucky, the dolphins might even come to say hi!
Featuring some stunning landscapes and unreal golden hours, the Machangulo Peninsula and Inhaca Island Bays provide a smorgasbord for photographers. From wildlife and birds to the Milky Way, the possibilities are endless.

An incredibly rich bird life surrounds Machangulo Beach Lodge all year round. From the Great White Pelicans to the majestic African Fish Eagle, the area provides ample opportunity for excellent birding. You can explore the bird life on foot, per boat, per kayak or even whilst lounging at the lodge. The area is classified as an important bird area by Bird Life International. If you are an avid birder or on a birding Safari in South Africa, Machangulo is the ideal place to come add to your list.

Santa Maria Village provides a great opportunity to experience local living by visiting this small village. Enjoy a scrumptious lunch at the local restaurant, Bemugi’s Place. Nested just behind the mangroves, the village is tiny and has a really authentic, non-tourist feel. Inhaca Island provides a wide array of activities to choose from.

This delightful island is home to only one village, aptly names Inhaca Village where some shops and restaurants can be found. The island has more of a tourist feel to it and has many more people than the Machangulo Area.
