Ultimate Safari Adventure – 3 nights Kruger Main | 2 nights White River | 3 nights Victoria Falls | 3 nights Chobe | 5 nights Lake Malawi
Overview
Gail from Pembury was fantastic in helping us plan this tour – We wanted to spend time in the Kruger National Park as this has been on our wish list for a few years and it did not disappoint. We also wanted some time to relax at Victoria Falls and the choice of accommodations was perfect for us. It was also a dream come true to see the Chobe area of Botswana as the wildlife was spectacular and the water based game viewing is something to be experienced for certain. We ended out trip in Pumulani Lodge on Lake Malawi which was a wonderful suggestion by Gail that we thoroughly enjoyed. Thanks for all the organising and help Gail – We hope to be back soon!

Besides being one of the seven natural wonders of the world and a World Heritage Site, Victoria Falls is the unchallenged adventure capital of Africa with more than 50 activities available.
The Victoria Falls is considered to be the largest waterfall in the world. See the mighty Zambezi River as it thunders over the 1700 metre wide Victoria Falls and plunges 100 metres into a narrow gorge below. The great columns of spray rising from the tumultuous falls can be seen from 80 kilometres away on a clear day. If you are lucky enough to be there at full moon, a “moonbow” can be seen in the spray instead of the usual daylight rainbow.
This morning after breakfast you are transferred by road across the Botswana border to your lodge in Kasane, in close proximimty to the Chobe National Park in Botswana.
Transfer time: Victoria Falls hotels to Chobe, Botswana – approx 1½ hours (incl. border crossing)
Chobe National Park on Botswana’s north-west border is a pristine wilderness of open plains, baobab trees, ancient woodland, swamps and flood plains and is home to the greatest concentration of game in the entire southern African subcontinent. One of Africa’s most beautiful rivers, the Chobe River, forms the Park’s northern boundary. The Chobe riverfront area is most famous for its large herds of elephants and buffalo, which come down to the river in huge herds to drink during the dry winter months. During this season, one may see hundreds of elephants at one time. Other species include waterbuck, lechwe, puku (this is the only part of Botswana where they can be seen), giraffe, kudu, roan and sable, impala, warthog, bushbuck, monkeys and baboons, along with the accompanying predators: lion, leopard, hyena and jackal. Over 460 bird species have been recorded in the park, making it one of Africa’s premier venues for bird safaris. A highlight of Chobe is taking a river cruise, which allows you to get up close with hippos, crocodile and a mind-boggling array of water birds. You also get really close to the animals that come down to the river to drink.
This morning you will be collected at your lodge and transferred by road back across the border to Livingstone Airport for your domestic flight to Lusaka. From Lusaka you will catch a regional flight through to Lilongwe, Malawi. On arrival at Lilongwe Airport you will be met and transferred by road to your lodge on Lake Malawi for the start of your five day lakeside relaxing holiday.

Lake Malawi was “discovered” by the missionary-explorer Dr David Livingstone just over 150 years ago. Although totally landlocked, Malawi is not denied its “inland sea”. This vast body of freshwater fringed by beaches of golden sand is not only a scenic wonderland but it provides water sport opportunities for those looking for something beyond sun, sand and swimming.
Its approximate dimensions are 365 miles north to south and 52 miles broad, hence the sobriquet: “the calendar lake”. The Lake, in the north, is quite extraordinarily deep: 2300 ft/700 m, plunging well below sea level. This reflects the enormity of the natural faulting of the Great Rift Valley, which is the origin of the Lake. The width of the lake’s shorelands vary from nothing to over 25 kilometres (16 miles), the edge of the Rift Valley rising steeply in places and more gently in others.
Because of its rich fish harvest, the Lake plays an important part in the economy. Fishing villages are scattered along the shore and the traditional industry and practices are an attraction to visitors. Access to the Lake is possible along much of its length but it should be noted that it is usually necessary to take a short detour off the main roads in order to reach the beach. Despite the attraction the Lake has to settlement, there are long stretches of totally uninhabited golden sand lakeshore, lapped by crystal clear waters. Kayaking, sailing, snorkelling, scuba diving and water skiing are just some of the lake activities available to visitors. Journeys by lake range from the famous motor vessel the Ilala to sailing in an ocean-going yacht. Cruises into the upper reaches of the great Shire river are also possible.
After your morning breakfast and last swim, you will be collected from your lodge and transferred by road to Lilongwe Airport for your flight to Johannesburg.
